ROYAL HUNT will release their new studio album - "Dystopia. Part 2" - on October. The second and final part of the concept will again feature guest performers: Mats Leven (TSO, Skyblood, Vandenberg), Mark Boals (Y.J. Malmsteen, Ring of Fire, Royal Hunt), Henrik Brockman (Royal Hunt, Evil Masquerade, N´Tribe), Kenny Lubcke (Narita, Zoser Mez) and Alexandra Andersen (Royal Hunt, JSP). "Dystopia - Part 2" will be released in following formats: regular CD, various Deluxe editions/bundles and a gatefold, heavy vinyl double LP (availability date pending). ROYAL HUNT keep expanding their trademark sound. As the story which inspired the project - Ray Bradbury´s classic novel "Fahrenheit 451" - gets more intense towards the end, the music turns into more dynamic, heavier direction. Once again the guest singers add even more dramatic contrasts to an already cinematic yet solidly rocking soundscape. Simply a "must have" for any symfo/prog/power fan out there!
Royal Hunt is a progressive metal band based in Denmark, founded in 1989 by keyboardist Andre Andersen. The band is known for creating melodic music with a progressive and symphonic flair. They made a huge success during mid-90s with vocalist D.C. Cooper on their classic albums "Moving Target" and "Paradox", mainly in Japan and Europe.
Following release of their latest studio album - “Devil's Dozen” – Royal Hunt participated in three of the widely known festivals around the globe this fall: ProgPower USA, Loud Park Japan and Rockingham UK, performing their energetic brand of symphonic/progressive yet highly melodic and instantly accessible Royal Rock for thousands of appreciative fans. While Royal Hunt´s next tour – sat to the spring of 2016 – is being organized, the band found the time to gather in the studio and pick out the best performances recorded during their festival trek: an hour and a half of Royal Hunt´s trademark sonic assault, skillfully captured on tape.
We can readily imagine with what modest pride the 40-year-old Bach presented his second wife Anna Magdalena with this most delightful of all domestic scrapbooks. Bach himself started it off for her with two of the keyboard Partitas (A minor, BWV827 and E minor, BWV930) which later formed part of the collection published as the composer's Op. 1 in 1731. Thereafter it was up to Anna Magdalena herself to choose and to enter little compositions which made particular appeal. Not all the music by any means is by her husband and there are pieces for example by Couperin, Bohm, Stolzel, Hasse and her stepson Carl Philipp Emanuel as well as several by anonymous composers.
After the early quartets and the famous ‘Dissonance’ Quartet, the Cuarteto Casals continues its exploration of the set of works Mozart dedicated to Joseph Haydn. Here one composer took on the mantle of the other: the younger man, who had now settled in Vienna and had just started a family, was going through an exceptional period of creativity, transfiguring everything he touched with his genius. An exhilarating experience for our Catalan musicians, following hard on the heels of their acclaimed Beethoven cycle.
Ann has come up with her own debut album, and as usual with debutantes we’ll try to get to know them a little bit better.
The album carries a curious title, Man Hunt (Platinum Blue, PB 4102D), especially considering that there's no such track on display. “The title comes from a girl that's searching for that right, special guy.”
Royal Hunt's 13th studio album – Devil's Dozen – stays very true to the original, larger-than-life Royal Hunt sound: with imaginative instrumentation, intricate arrangements, soaring vocals and catchy, massive choruses. Yet the addition of classical musicians/instruments and contemporary, modern day production elements twist the outcome into a unique sonic palette. The band holds tight to the format which defined rock – an album chockfull of carefully crafted songs, recorded and mixed by a team of professionals who know how to combine crystal clear sonics with a weighty punch.
