Imagined Villages

Released in 2015, Grapefruit’s 3-CD multi-artist British underground folk compilation Dust On The Nettles was widely praised, with a five-star review in The Times hailing it as “a delight from beginning to end”. A long-overdue follow up to that set, Sumer Is Icumen In tightens the mesh by focusing on the point when traditional folksong and the burgeoning late Sixties counterculture collided, largely courtesy of seminal acts like the Incredible String Band, Fairport Convention and Pentangle.

‘A Tiempo Real’ is the new album from the traditional Spanish folk band Vigüela. It is a double-disc of almost 100 minutes of carefully arranged traditional folk songs and is as much album as a lively preservation project. ‘A Tiempo Real’ is a cultural contribution to Spanish folk music as performed in village life in homes, festivities and celebrations in the province of Castilla-La Mancha and beyond.

Kolektif Istanbul has been mainly based on such a purpose that is about musical variance of Eastern Europe in the sense of traditional repertories. By this intention which primarily refers to a subjective positioning on musical understanding through ethnic and traditional music is what the project aims to acknowledge cultural sharing and meetings in where the " traditionally repertory" represents the bulk of the marriages and to rituals that are surrounded by.
