Geburtstages von Jazzlegende Richie Beirach im Mai 2022, veröffentlichen wir eine, die das musikalische Schaffen der Geschwister Gregor und Veit Hübner, die seit knapp 25 Jahren zusammen mit dem USamerikanischen Jazzpianisten arbeiten, festhalten. Es ist ein wahres Geschenk an die gewachsene musikalische Partner- und Freundschaft, die Dave Liebman so beschreibt: „Truly a family affair with two brothers, Gregor, Veit and “Uncle” Richie!! This music transverses 20th century and jazz. You can hear the brotherhood especially on the “free” pieces. Born in Moscow on New Year’s Day in 1991, Anna made her recital debut just seven years later in the small hall of the Berlin Philharmonic. She has since developed a diverse and versatile career as an artist: performances in major venues throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia; appearances with famed conductors, including Marin Alsop, Edward Gardner, Nicholas McGegan, Arvo Volmer, Gintaras Rinkevičius, and Valentin Uryupin; and a dedication to chamber music, including close collaborations with Quartetto di Cremona and in duo piano repertoire with Lukas Geniušas.

This recording is composed of music originally written for piano, harp, or two guitars by leading 20th century composers who spent the bulk of their careers working in Paris. The arrangements, the majority of which are by the Cicchillitti/Cowan duo, eloquently illustrate that the tone colours, intimacy, and pure lyricism of the composers’ styles are ideally suited to the guitar, and that the harmonic language translates beautifully to a guitar duo.

After a decade of shared work in the Tarkovsky Quartet and an ongoing alliance in the Pergolesi Project, German cellist Anja Lechner and French pianist Francois Couturier unveil their new duo. The players approach the music from different vantage points: Lechner is a classical soloist with an uncommon interest in improvisation, Couturier a jazz musician travelling ever further from jazz. On 'Moderato cantabile' they present their own arrangements of works by three fascinating outsiders from the margins of music history - G.I. Gurdjieff, Komitas and Federico Mompou.

The Galatea Quartet is often touring in South America, where they have a big fan base. During one of the concert tours the idea was born, to transcribe ORIGINAL Argentinian tangos for string quartet. The four musicians could get composers/arrangers such as Pablo Fraguela or Tomás Nine enthusiastic about the idea and it didn’t took long time, until 15 tangos had been transcribed for four string instruments.

Having given up the piano at the age of nine, Alistair McGowan took up music again in his fifties after encouragement from friends and family. Going by this album, his progress is impressive.
