Inchon Soundtrack

For reasons unknown – and largely beyond comprehension – producers rejected Elmer Bernstein's completed score for Walter Hill's 1996 Yojimbo remake Last Man Standing in favor of an inappropriate electronic score by the otherwise unimpeachable Ry Cooder. Since both versions have been released, it's possible to compare them side by side, although it's difficult to fathom what the producers were thinking – a vivid orchestral effort wrought from classical cinematic idioms, Bernstein's menacing atmosphere seems perfectly attuned to Hill's violent milieu.

Composer Justin Hurwitz became best known for his work with college friend and film director Damien Chazelle, most notably for the La La Land score. Raised in California, Hurwitz came from an artistic family – his sister played the violin and both his parents worked in the arts, his mother was a ballerina and his father a writer. He began playing the piano at the age of six. By the time he was ten, he was composing his own music. In the eighth grade, he and his family moved to Fox Point, Wisconsin where he attended Nicolet High School. While there, the budding composer also studied at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music in Milwaukee with pianist Stefanie Jacob. After graduating in 2003, he continued his education at Harvard University.

Women Talking is a highly emotive and inspiring story, based on the best-selling novel by Miriam Toews, that follows a group of women from an isolated religious community who grapple with reconciling their reality with their faith. Hildur Guðnadóttir’s affecting, ruminative score captures the film’s emotional complexity. Rousing guitar-led motifs underpin the folk-influenced score, punctuated by unsettling percussion and mournful strings.

Rick and Morty is the critically acclaimed, half-hour animated hit comedy series on Adult Swim that follows a sociopathic genius scientist who drags his timid grandson on insanely dangerous adventures across the universe. Rick and Morty stars Justin Roiland (Adventure Time), Sarah Chalke (Scrubs), Chris Parnell (Saturday Night Live) and Spencer Grammer (Greek). The series is created by Dan Harmon (Community) and Roiland who also serve as executive producers.

Across 110th Street is the 1972 soundtrack album to the film directed by Barry Shear. This is a deluxe edition of the soundtrack, released in 1997 by Rykodisc with assistance from MGM.

Black Caesar is the 1973 soundtrack album by James Brown. This CD was released on 22 September, 1992 and also features a song by Lyn Collins.

Empire Of The Sun is the 1987 soundtrack by John Williams. The album is complimented by beginning with a song performed by The Ambrosian Junior Choir. This is the original single CD in its original mastered version released by Warner Bros. Records.

Brian Tyler has certainly become a novice when it comes to scoring Action/Science fiction blockbusters, he's worked on dozens over the last decade or so. Back Lot Music will be releasing his latest album, which consists of his scoring to the reboot of "The Mummy" franchise.
