American-Australian harpist Emily Granger makes her solo debut recording, "In Transit", with a collection of contemporary works that reveal the breadth and beauty of harp music from her two countries. Memories and moods infuse Tristan Coehlo’s evocative title track as well as the composer’s The Old School, recalling an artists’ residence in Australia’s Blue Mountains where he first met Emily.

The four American composers on this album have all won recognition for their diverse approaches to contemporary art song. Both Emmy-nominated Craig Brandwein, in his beautiful Three Rilke Songs and Jonathan Santore in Two Letters of Sulpicia use computer generated electronics to enhance the vocal line, while Edie Hill’s setting of poems by Amy Lowell exemplifies why her music has been described as "full of mystery" (Stereophile).

It is ironic, but also profoundly right, that the words which came silently out of the pen of Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) nowadays are heard frequently in concert halls, and elsewhere too. In 1992, Carlton Lowenberg, in his book Musicians wrestle everywhere: Emily Dickinson and Music, listed no fewer than 1,615 compositions based on her texts, by 276 different composers, from 1896 onwards; according to the musicologist Enrico Maria Polimanti, by 2007 this number had almost doubled.

Taking its name from Mozart's famous sacred aria, Et incarnatus est, Made Human showcases Emily White's astonishing ability to make the trombone sound like the human voice.
