Saint-Germain est un récit d’aventure mélangeant allègrement les genres ; une alchimie entre « cape et épée », ésotérisme et science-fiction et ce, sans trop s’éloigner du cadre historique du XVIIIe siècle. Un tel mariage de styles se trouve lié inévitablement par de l’humour et par beaucoup de légèreté dans le ton du récit. Quant au comte de Saint-Germain en lui-même, nous avons pris des libertés sur le personnage historique en lui donnant le rôle d’une sorte de James Bond du Siècle des Lumières. C’est un personnage aux origines nébuleuses et aux motivations mystérieuses. Ceci étant dit, il est un archétype du héros positif et pragmatique. Jamais pris à court d’humour, il préfère rire de la mort plutôt que de la craindre.
