Blanche Selva ne s’est que tardivement laissée convaincre de graver quelques 78 tours, réalisés à Paris et Madrid par la firme Columbia en 1929 et 1930. L’accident cérébral qui la frappe quelques mois plus tard met définitivement un terme à cette trop brève carrière phonographique. Ces presque deux heures de musique révèlent une artiste dans sa pleine maturité, peut-être à son meilleur. –Gilles Saint-Arroman

The Symphony No. 10 has a heartfelt Hymnus framed by a stunningly violent first movement and an equally riled war dance of a third movement. In fact that third movement had me thinking of Grainger's revolutionary ballet The Warriors. The first movement Ein Sturm is not quite as onomatopoeic as the similar works by Nystroem and Sibelius - both inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest. The Henze movement was not related to Shakespeare. All the music here is freely dissonant yet not fragmented. Henze holds true to the ‘long line’ in his thinking and expression.

João Donato, em sua infância, costumava brincar de música com flautinhas de bambu e panelas. Depois, recebeu de presente um acordeão de oito baixos e, mais tarde, um acordeão maior. Em 1945, mudou-se para o Rio de Janeiro com sua família. Apesar de amigo de todos os expoentes do movimento bossanovista, como João Gilberto, Tom Jobim, Vinícius de Moraes e Johnny Alf, entre outros, nunca foi caracterizado unicamente como tal, e sim um músico muito criativo e que promove fusões musicais, de jazz e música latina, entre tantos outros.

"I don't sit around and say, 'Okay, what can I do now that pushes the boundaries?," Vai explains about his approach to the guitar.
