Mamãe Eu Quero is a famous Carnival marchinha from 1937, composed by Vicente Paiva and Jararaca. The original recording was made by Jararaca himself in 1937, on the Odeon label, and to this day it is one of the most famous Brazilian songs of all time. According to ECAD, the office responsible for collecting and distributing royalties, it is the third most played recording in Carmen Miranda's voice in the last five years (from July 2010 to March 2015), in segments such as radio, live music, party houses, entertainment centres and environmental sound systems.

Paulo Diniz knew success in the '70s with compositions and interpretations soaked with the freewheeling spirit of those times, a mixture of post-1968 protest with the joyous character of Bahian music. "Quero Voltar Pra Bahia" ("I Wanna Go Back to Bahia"), a nostalgic tribute to Caetano Veloso who was exiled in London at the time, was recorded by several other interpreters, including Fagner. Diniz also had his "Símbolo de Paz" recorded by Elizeth Cardoso; "Pingos de Amor" by several interpreters, including Araketu, Kid Abelha, Neguinho da Beija-Flor and Sula Miranda; "Chega" by Simone; "Um Chope Pra Distrair" by Emílio Santiago; and "Canseira" by Clara Nunes.

Marcos Valle was the Renaissance man of Brazilian pop, a singer/songwriter/producer who straddled the country's music world from the early days of the bossa nova craze well into the fusion-soaked sound of '80s MPB. Though his reputation in America never quite compared to contemporaries like Caetano Veloso, Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, or even Tom Ze, Valle is one of the most important and popular performers in the history of Brazilian pop.
