January 1983 saw TV SMITH reunited with ex Advert Tim Cross and David Bowie's ex-guitarist Tim Renwick to record "Channel 5" in Wickham studios in Croydon. 3 weeks later the album was completed and scheduled for a June release. "War Fever" was earmarked as the first single but at the time the country was fighting a General Election with the card of the Falklands war victory played by the ruling Conservative Party, and as a result the single vanished without trace.

James Oscar Smith (December 8, 1925 – February 8, 2005) was an American jazz musician whose albums often appeared on Billboard magazine charts. He helped popularize the Hammond B-3 organ, creating a link between jazz and 1960s soul music.

Hammond B-3 organ legend Dr. Lonnie Smith has announced a January 12 release for All in My Mind, a spirited live trio album that the NEA Jazz Master recorded during his 75th birthday celebration at the Jazz Standard in New York City this past summer. The album is the follow-up to his acclaimed 2016 release Evolution, which marked Smith’s return to Blue Note Records where he first made a name for himself with a run of classic soul jazz albums between 1968-70.

Musically, she references 90’s R&B, and the untapped goldmine of Soviet disco. But the most important pillar of Pure-O – its living, breathing, biological quality– is entirely Farao’s own.

Fearful Symmetry is a collection of 24 art songs by American composer William Mac Davis, performed by soprano Lynda Poston-Smith and pianist Robert Carl Smith. William Mac Davis was born May 13, 1953. He received a B.M. and M.M. from the University of Mississippi, and a PhD in Composition from the University of Utah. Mac also continued postdoctoral study at the Eastman School of Music. Some of his teachers were Samuel Adler, Ned Rorem and Ramiro Cortes. He has worked at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. Lynda Poston Smith and Robert Carl Smith are a husband and wife duo who regularly perform concerts and have recorded several albums together.

The year is 1958, when a reasonably successful R&B singer goes into the studio with an all-star band and puts a dozen songs from the world repertoire of a blues legend on the tape. The old-fashioned style in LaVern Baker's homage to Bessie Smith might seem a little strange in the midst of the tension of popular R&B numbers and the already started Motown hit machine, but found a lot of love from the audience.
