Unlike his more middle-of-the-road peers in the world of post-war sophisticated pop, he did not make records aimed at the singles charts so is less well-known than artists like Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis and Mel Torme, but was a singer who was highly-regarded by his peers and aficionados.

Produced by Jimmy Miller and Johnny Thunders, it is a collection of studio demos and live material. The cover art is an infamous photo of Thunders that was made into posters.

FIVE DISC SET (3 CD 37 tracks & 2 DVDs) Like the Boss (Bruce Springsteen), Southside Johnny aka John Lyon is from New Jersey, and of course the paths of the two and the members of the E-Street Band crossed many times. Especially with Steven Van Zandt aka Little Steven there was a long lasting friendship and Van Zandt produced the first three albums I Don't Want to Go Home (1976), This Time It's for Real (1977) and Hearts of Stone (1978) of Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, which were strongly influenced by Rhythm & Blues.The band gave their first German concert in 1977 at Hamburg's club Onkel Pö, and in October 1979 they played together with Mitch Ryder and Nils Lofgren at the 5th Rockpalast Night at Essen's Grugahalle. WDR was there for Rockpalast and recorded the concert. On March 26, 1992, Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes gave a second concert for Rockpalast in Cologne's Live Music Hall, where Little Steven joined them on stage for four songs.

Kidd (b. Frederick Heath, 23 December 1939, Willesden, London, England, d. 7 October 1966, England), is now rightly revered as an influential figure in the birth of British rock. Although his backing group fluctuated, this enigmatic figure presided over several seminal pre- Beatles releases. Formed in January 1959, the original line-up consisted of two former members of the Five Nutters skiffle group, Kidd (lead vocals) and Alan Caddy (b. 2 February 1940, Chelsea, London, England, d. 16 August 2000; lead guitar), joined by Tony Docherty (rhythm guitar), Johnny Gordon (bass) and Ken McKay (drums), plus backing singers Mike West and Tom Brown. Their compulsive debut single, ‘Please Don’t Touch’ barely scraped into the UK Top 20, but it remains one of the few authentic home-grown rock ‘n’ roll performances to emerge from the 50s.
