Johnny Hallyday (born Jean-Philippe Smet; 15 June 1943) is a French singer and actor. An icon in the French-speaking world since the beginning of his career, he was considered by some to have been the French Elvis Presley. Hallyday has completed 181 tours, had 18 platinum albums, and has sold more than 80 million records worldwide, making him one of the world's best-selling artists of all time. Hallyday remains largely unknown outside of the Francophone world, thus earning the nickname "the biggest rock star you've never heard of" in English-speaking countries.

En 2019 Yvan Cassar revisitait 12 standards de Johnny Hallyday prolongeant les 20 années de leur collaboration artistique sur scène et en studio. Résultat : bientôt 500.000 albums vendus. En 2020 l’histoire continue et après « Diégo, libre dans sa tête » c’est aujourd’hui : « Je te promets », « Le Pénitencier », « La musique que j’aime » ou « Laura » qu’Yvan Cassar revisite.

France's first and only full-fledged rock star, Johnny Hallyday was still a distinctly French phenomenon, never achieving worldwide recognition (partially because a good chunk of his repertoire consisted of French-language covers of early American rock hits). Other French artists may have been influenced by rock & roll, but none was as beholden to the original sources, or as enduringly successful, as Hallyday. Moreover, his appropriations of Elvis Presley and James Dean captured the French imagination, but – language barrier aside – were often too stylized and imitative to resonate with audiences used to the genuine article. Yet even if his musical interpretations lacked some of the punch of their sources, his sense of rock & roll style, with all its rebellious trappings, was impeccable.

Quand Johnny se présente face à la foule du Parc de Sceaux le jour même de son anniversaire, il sait que ce concert ne sera pas comme les autres. Les nombreux artistes présents sur scène ou backstage sont là pour le lui rappeler.
Mais c’est surtout les « joyeux anniversaire » chantés par son public tout au long de la soirée qui donnent à ce live toute sa saveur.Au final du tour de chant sur « Non, je ne regrette rien » la communion entre l’artiste et ses milliers de fans est totale.Quelques minutes plus tôt Johnny les conjurait de mettre en pratique ces mots importants de Michel Berger sur sa chanson Aimer vivre : « Si c’est ton corps qui bouge c’est ton cœur qui fait tout ».
Ce soir-là Johnny et son public se retrouvait une nouvelle fois pour témoigner ensemble de cette amitié qui les accompagne depuis le début des années 60.
