Legendary artist Herb Trimpe () joins regular writer John Arcudi and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola for the first of several miniseries and one-shots which pick up from the March-April B.P.R.D. feature on MySpace/Dark Horse Presents. These stories are set before the events of , chronicling the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense's fight against the frog monsters. This miniseries took more than a year to finish but well worth the wait, I think.

Basically, if S.H.I.E.L.D. is Earth's MI5 in the Marvel Universe, then S.W.O.R.D. is its MI6. Its principal characters are Agent Abigail Brand, Marvel Universe's favorite green-haired Skrull-killer and her boyfriend Henry McCoy, aka The Beast. Much of the action occurs on board a space station that also serves as a sort of halfway station for aliens bound for earth, an idea most of us will be certainly familiar with, from other comics titles of course. Yet the breathless action coupled with the banter and interplay between the Agent Brand and Hank McCoy brings a freshness to it all. After the overwhelming praise from fans and critics alike for B.P.R.D.: 1946, Mike Mignola and cowriter Joshua Dysart return to the Hellboy universe for , a five-issue miniseries continuing the early exploits of the fledgling Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense and its founder, Trevor Bruttenhom—occult investigator and guardian of the infant Hellboy. Despite the fact that the Hellboy/B.P.R.D. franchise has ballooned over the years and creator Mike Mignola rarely has the time to illustrate any of these stories, the various mini-series and one-shots over the years have managed to achieve a surprisingly consistent visual style. 1947 is no exception. With art by Eisner award winners Gabriel Bá and Fábio Moon, it is a visual treat. Mike Mignola himself talks about Bá and Moon: "Their work is amazing, and we’re giving them an epic gothic tale, a moody and shadowy nightmare unlike anything they’ve done, and darker, scarier, and more mysterious than anything we’ve done in such a long format." And about 1947: "In the 1946 series, the B.P.R.D. was just two guys and one of them died. In 1947 we see the humble beginnings of the Bureau we know and love today."

Devant faire face à l'énorme pression de ses supérieurs et des médias, l'inspecteur Harris s'acharne à régler le dossier des «Sans-âme », ces portés disparus que l'on retrouve errants dans les rues, comme vidés de leur énergie vitale. L'ombre surnaturelle qui semble toujours avoir l'avantage sur lui pourrait bien être la clé du mystère...

C'est la catastrophe ! Panoramix vient de casser sa serpe d'or, or le gui doit être coupé impérativement avec une serpe d'or pour avoir des pouvoirs magiques et être utilisé dans les potions magiques. Astérix et Obélix partent donc à Lutèce pour acheter une serpe d'or à Amérix, cousin d'Obélix. Mais ce dernier a été enlevé par des truands qui dirigent un réseau de trafic de serpes d'or. Nos deux Gaulois auront fort à faire pour démanteler le réseau impliquant des personnes haut placées et libérer Amérix.

Il nous a en effet fallu un peu plus de temps que d'habitude pour préparer ce voyage aux confins de l'érotisme. Mais, petits veinards que vous êtes, nous en avons aussi profité pour vous préparer un hors-série de dBD consacré lui aussi à l'érotisme, mais mettant en avant les auteurs plutôt que les histoires, comme nous avons l'habitude de le faire. Deux façons complémentaires d'aborder la bande dessinée donc, et deux fois plus d'occasions de vous faire plaisir.
