The Morning After is a near perfect follow-up to the J. Geils Band's self-titled debut album. It's more of the same winning blend of rocked-out blues, jumped-up soul, and pure rock & roll wildness with enough attitude and energy to get a club full of people from zero to sweaty in less than 60 seconds. Featuring the original versions of songs that became radio staples in their live incarnations ("Looking for a Love," the Magic Dick showcase "Whammer Jammer"), a batch of covers of rare soul gems ("So Sharp," Don Covay's "The Usual Place," the aforementioned "Looking for a Love"), and some fine originals (the rip-roaring opener "I Don't Need You No More," the very funky "Gotta Have Your Love," and the heart-rending ballad "Cry One More Time," which was covered memorably by Gram Parsons on G.P.), The Morning After is definite proof that the J. Geils Band were well on their way to becoming one of the best rock & roll bands of any era.

The superb two-disc anthology Houseparty concentrates on the rousing, full-throttle blues-boogie of their heyday, including a full album's worth of live material (ten songs from their three live albums). The pop success of "Love Stinks" and "Freeze Frame" makes sense in the context of the set, but the songs that cut the deepest are the blues-rock numbers on the first disc and the live songs. Thankfully, the compilers (Trouser Press editor Ira Robbins and bandmembers Peter Wolf and Seth Justman) end Houseparty with three songs from Sanctuary, helping secure the image of the J. Geils Band as one of America's top rock & roll groups.

The Andy J. Forest Band has recorded many albums, and opened for artists like B. B. King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Canned Heat, Robert Cray, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Otis Grand, Duke Robillard and Johnny Winter. Guest artists on Andy J Forest's CDs include Marva Wright, John Mooney, and the late Willy DeVille. "GrooveRockBluesFunk'N'Roll" is a good bluesy, jazzy album with many blues jazz influences. If you like Dr. John, Rod Piazza, and the late Willy DeVille's music, you may find this obscure album of interest. The album was recorded live on 9th, 10th, & 11th March, 1989 at Il Posto, Verona, Italy. The album is live, real as played with no overdubbing. Track 10 was released on the CD as an incomplete take.

The J. TEAL BAND was formed in 1974 in Spartanburg, South Carolina/USA and recorded only this album on a private label in 1977. Well respected among collectors for it's top notch guitar playing and clean undistorted jams. A real long lost gem from the 70s private press underground.
