Live recording of two jazz legends Max Roach (drums) and Mal Waldron (piano), at the concert held to celebrate Mal Waldron's 70th birthday. Recorded at the Desingel Arts Centre, Antwerp, Belgium, 20 September 1995. Featuring a comfortable duo between one of the kings of bebop, Max Roach, and master genre-bender Mal Waldron, this two-CD set contains a complete concert in honor of the pianist's 70th birthday. (Actually, there is also a bonus track of a cut recorded before the concert.) The 30 pieces are mostly fully improvised and flow into one another flawlessly.

Four more boxed sets from CAM Jazz presenting the complete works of key artists from the catalogues of the famed Italian labels. Attractively presented, Excellent sound. INCLUDES THE ALBUMS: THE GIT GO - LIVE AT THE VILLAGE VANGUARD (1987) THE SEAGULLS OF KRISTIANSUND (1989) CROWD SCENE (1992) WHERE ARE YOU? (1994). The four albums recorded by Soul Notes are greats. Two of them are for the same concert at Village Vanguard in 1986 with Woody Shaw, Charles Rouse, Regie Workman and Ed Blackwell. Great group, great concert. Only five themes in two CD, incredible improvisation a very good recorded. "The git go" and "The seagull of Kristiansund" are pure jazz in live.

The duo of Archie Shepp and Mal Waldron come together beautifully here – in a mode that echoes some of the duets that pianist Waldron recorded with other reedmen in the 70s and 80s, but which has an especially wonderful contribution from Shepp! Archie blows both tenor and soprano sax – and the warmth of his horn in later years is really perfect here – especially as the album's sometime of an update of Waldron's earlier Left Alone classic, recorded after the death of Billie Holiday at the end of the 50s. As with that one, the tunes here include some numbers very strongly tied to Billie's legacy, but the vibe is very different, and very personal along the lines of the spirit of Shepp and Waldron.

Reissue of a rare, 250 copy private press progressive rock album from France. Recorded on a 4 track Akai in the small town of Luxueil-les-Bains, this album was only sold at a few shows and in one local shop. Pressed at the small Le Kiosque D’Orphee pressing plant, this was truly a private offering with the band having made and glued the covers themselves…
