Sur ce nouvel opus, s’affirment un même mélange de mélancolie, de désespoir et de frustration, et surtout un même goût pour l’hybridation musicale. Résultat : un album totalement inclassable, entre chanson hantée, comptines morbides, rock 60’s, envolées lyriques, habillage électro inventif et racé, piano néo-classique, orchestrations symphoniques à tomber par terre, choeurs majestueux ou même choeurs d’enfants, le tout construit en trois mouvements autour d’une paire d’instrumentaux poignants.

With their compositional and organizational skills, Teddy Charles and Mal Waldron were essential participants on several Prestige sessions in the 1950s, including some issued without a designated leader. What resulted was never a mere "blowing session" because of the challenging nature of the material and the assertive tonal personality of the ensemble when Charles and/or Waldron were present. This superior, little-known date is a prime example.
