After gaining fairly the eye for her 2018 single, “You,” Dutch-born singer is prepping the discharge of her debut album. Titled Kairos, Nicole’s debut will arrive in simply two weeks on October 18. Sitting beneath Roc Nation, Kairos will characteristic 14 songs together with each remixes of “You” with Ghostface Killah & Rick Ross. KAIROS celebrates Friedrich Cerha's 93rd birthday in February 2019 with the release of the 1988 recording of his dadaistic cycle ""Eine Art Chansons"", performed by HK Gruber. While this it might be a surprising work for many of Cerha's fans, it is by no means untypical for Cerha's unique grasp of the 20th century diversity of musical styles and genres. Cerha in his own words about the music of his late years: Despite my age, I am always searching for something new. The path on which I search leads me unavoidably back to me. Thus, it is also always about finding new sides of myself. The intense experience of music is a way into ones own being- for the listener too.

In the early 2000s, Vijay Iyer and Craig Taborn are members of Note Factory, a pointed nonette led by Roscoe Mitchell. At the heart of the complex improvised music of the Art Ensemble of Chicago saxophonist, the tandem formed by the two pianists is a force in its own right.

What defines music? This question arises again and again when one is listening to the music of Dominique Schafer. According to the composer, single notes form stories through their dialogue with each other. Vers un présence réelle is the title of this recording containing six pieces trying to answer that very question. The performers are ensemble proton bern and conductor Matthias Kuhn. Founded in 2010, ensemble proton bern has established itself as one of the top new music groups. The actual goal is however much greater: they want to bring people closer to new music. To this end, the musicians seek contact to and are able to discuss the contemporary sound world with their audience. It is therefore that ensemble proton bern is so prevalent online: protons concert videos on YouTube have been viewed most unusually for new music many thousands of times.

What challenges does a composer of the 21st century face when tackling the piano? One could think that its musical possibilities have almost been depleted: on the one hand, György Ligeti’s Etudes (1985–2001) probably stand as the fin-de-siècle pianistic milestone; on the other hand, following in a way Henry Cowell’s pioneering experiments on the piano, both John Cage’s preparations and Helmut Lachenmann’s extended techniques epitomize a deconstruction of the piano’s normalized uses. Some of their followers have however overexploited these novel paths, paradoxically rendering several radical achievements cliché. Aesthetic apriorisms still prevail and composers are often urged to take ideological sides, but Ramon Lazkano belongs to those who, since the nineties, have deftly navigated between tradition and experimentation.

MoeDeLL is a prolific Americana songwriter. His guitar, creative lyrics, and unique voice are the foundation. His foot stomping down home melodies and rolling rhythms tell tales from light to dark and from silliness to the endearing.

After 'OM.ON', 'FACE' is another large-scale work by Pierluigi Billone that was written for a specific ensemble; this time for the Viennese group PHACE. FACE is about 'vibration of the body and the sound of the voice, not the musical expression of a text'.

“Open, with no directionality, I simply listen to the living of a world.” (Giorgio Netti) Saxophonist Patrick Stadler, a member of Ensemble Nikel, presents his reading of Netti’s monumental cycle necessità d’interrogare il cielo – a chance to immerse oneself into this complex, yet astoundingly beautiful musical world. Netti’s aesthetic was formed by Ferneyhough, Grisey, Rihm and Xenaxis, and since his own studies in the 1980s and 1990s, he has developed a highly individual and utterly fascinating musical language. This solo saxophone cycle from the 1990s is one of the milestones in his oeuvre.

Ryan Carters works have been frequently performed by Americas finest ensembles and soloists for a number of years. A recent winner of the audience prize at the Heidelberger Frühling, he enjoys a growing reputation in Europes contemporary music circle. This recording features chamber works, played by the JACK and Calder quartets, Keith Kirchoff and the Dillon-Torquati duo.
