On February 25, 2022, Kalle Wallner (RPWL, Blind Ego) will release his first solo album under his own name. “Voices” contains six instrumental songs and one song sung by Arno Menses (Subsignal). Special guest on drums is Marco Minnemann.
Swiss vocal acrobat Andreas Schaerer and Finnish guitarist Kalle Kalima have some things in common. As artists, each is essentially in a category completely of his own. Both are musicians who can always conjure something special from their chosen instruments.
During the last years, Kalle and I had the opportunity to work on original duo music without much pressure from outside and finally recorded this program in September 2022.I have always enjoyed listening to and exploring ensemble music that uses multiple instruments being capable of providing harmonic information.This certainly requires deep listening on various levels - pitch-wise, chord-wise, register-wise, rhythmically and texturally.The duo combination of piano and acoustic guitar puts these possibilities and challenges under a magnifying glass.

And that is because the point of departure for this album is traditional roots music from America, inspired in part by American-Indian heritage, plus three classic songs that are also imbued with that same spirit of unspoilt authenticity and freedom.

Blind Ego is the "solo" side project of RPWL guitarist Karlheinz "Kalle" WALLNER. Wallner states that the Ego part of the name is derived from his desire to make music from a very personal space. He says that Blind comes from his total commitment to this solo work…
