"Tito and I" is a very entertaining comedy. Although it touches on some serious issues such as political indoctrination and idolatry of communist leaders, I think the main point of the movie is not to make us think about these serious issues, but to laugh at them. Indeed, the movie gives the viewer plenty of reasons to be amused. It will be difficult not to enjoy it, trust me!"

Um an das Erbe seines Vaters zu kommen, muss Playboy Dhanraj Samarpreet die Tochter von dessen altem Freund heiraten. Die lebt in Punjab und entpuppt sich als wenig attraktiv, was fur Dhanraj letztlich aber kein Hinderungsgrund ist, zumal er sich kurz nach der Hochzeit auf eine Geschaftsreise verabschiedet. Nachdem seine Frau drei Monate gewartet hat, wird sie stutzig und beschlie?t, dem Gottergatten nach Trinidad zu folgen. Dort lernt sie das Model Shimmer kennen, das ihr eine Generaluberholung verpasst, dank derer sich Dhanraj fur sie zu interessieren beginnt - wahrend sie Shimmer die Augen hinsichtlich der wahren Werte des Lebens offnet.

A tragicomic film about people from the social periphery. Director Dušan Hanák portrayed his characters with a sensitive understanding, without romanticizing. That was also why the f ilm, similarly to Hanák’s previous works 322 and Pictures of the Old World, ended up on a shelf until 1988.

The story of a ten years old boy who, as most of the children in Yugoslavia of the fifties can hardly imagine his life without the great national leader - marshal Tito. In his school, he wins the contest for the best Tito's composition. His reward is the participation in "Tito's native land" march. He claims in his work that he loves Tito more than his Dad and Mom, which makes them desperate. He does not understand what is so confusing and weird in his love towards the leader. This march will be a difficult temptation for him. Unaccustomed to nature, walks and independent living, harassed by the teacher, Stalinist, he fails, gets lost in the mountain and his life changes.
