Given that Kill to Get Crimson follows Mark Knopfler's yearlong collaboration with Emmylou Harris – inaugurated by the album All the Roadrunning and followed by a tour, subsequently documented on the live set Real Live Roadrunning – it might be reasonable to presume that it bears a slightly heavier folk influence, as if Emmylou had rubbed off on the guitarist. And that's true to a certain extent: "Heart Full of Holes" has an old-timey carnivalesque lilt to its middle section and "Secondary Waltz" is simple, low-key two-step driven by accordions, while "The Fish and the Bird" is a spare allegory that recalls old folk tunes, as does the stately grace of "Madame Geneva's."

On her fifth full-length album, How A Fantasy Will Kill Us All, songwriter Corrina Repp charts a path through the unknown. Fueled by a desire to start over and make a clean break with Portland, where she’d lived for 21 years, and where she released a string of albums on HUSH and Mark Kozelek’s Caldo Verde label, played with her band Tu Fawning, and appeared semi-regularly on the parody comedy series Portlandia, Repp headed across the country. The promise of a new relationship was waiting for her, but it wasn’t to be. Turning away from the failed relationship after three weeks, Repp made survival a full-time occupation. Stowing her possessions in a storage unit in Woodland Hills, California, and leaving with no real plan, Repp embarked on a nomadic journey that would shade her music for years to come.

In collaboration with Ramona Music and Colette Delerue, Music Box Records presents the expanded version of To Kill a Priest (also known as Le Complot in its native France). Starring Christopher Lambert and Ed Harris, the 1988 drama film is based on the true story of Father Jerzy Popieluszko, a Catholic priest and Solidarity supporter who was kidnapped and murdered by three agents of the Polish secret police. Written and directed by exiled Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland (The Secret Garden, Total Eclipse), To Kill a Priest was a passionate, but still even-handed presentation of the political scandal, showing the story to a wider audience a few years before the fall of Communism. The music by Georges Delerue centers around a main title song, performed by American folk legend / human rights activist Joan Baez. Her song "The Crimes of Cain" is featured both in the beginning and the end of the film, the instrumental variations appear in several cues throughout the score.

Joshua Gilmore (born July 6, 1944), better known as Joey Gilmore was born in Ocala, Florida Self-taught on the guitar at an early age, from watching a local minister-cum-barber playing his own flat-bodied guitar. Gilmore initially headed a band of youths who appeared in local clubs long before they were legally able to enter such establishments. In the 1960s, Gilmore relocated to South Florida, and he became a popular local attraction which led to him accompanying many touring blues, R&B and soul musicians. He recorded a number of tracks in the 1970s, including his debut single "Somebody Done Took My Baby And Gone"/"Do It To Me One More Time" (1971). He released several EPs at that time, as well as the "Joey Gilmore" album, released in 1977 on Henry Stone's Blue Candle label. His next album came twelve years later when "So Good to Ne Bad" dropped in 1989. The album reached #80 on the US Billboard R&B album chart…
