L'infanzia Jonas Fink

Jonas tiene solo doce años cuando su padre, un judío burgués, es detenido, acusado de haber conspirado contra el régimen comunista que se impone en Checoslovaquia desde 1949. Comienza así la pesadilla de un chico marcado por la infamia, víctima de una sociedad totalitaria en la que la paranoia y las delaciones están a la orden del día. Sin ser consciente del peligro, Jonas estrecha lazos con un pequeño grupo de contestatarios que animará más tarde el intenso y luminoso periodo del 68. Vittorio Giardino, el autor italiano más importante de las últimas décadas, ha dedicado a esta obra más de veinte años de su vida.

GRAMMY Award winning American Roots artists Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer join with Chinese classical hammered dulcimer player Chao Tian in this folk infused world music exploration. Chinese and American songs are accompanied on yangqin (Chinese hammered dulcimer), gourd banjo, five-string banjo, ukulele, guitars, dumbek, cello-banjo and mandolin.
The group’s repertoire includes traditional Chinese and Appalachian music as well as contemporary and traditional music from around the world. Unusual combinations explore new arrangements to old music, such as “Dark Eyes.” Ukulele, yangqin and guitar create a new pallet for this Russian folk song turned jazz manouche tune. Cathy and Marcy join Chao in singing a Chinese lullaby, “Nani Wan” and Chao easily adds her love of American Old-Time music to fiddle tunes and songs.

Following the success of last year's Hard Believer album-which saw the trio known as Fink melding Fin Greenall's ruggedly lush vocals with a slow-burning and steady-thumping array of string lucking (Guy Whittaker) and cymbal smashing (Tim Thornton)-they ring in 2015 with Horizontalism. Inspired by Greenall's new home in Berlin and his resurgent interest in electronic production, his series of mixes may stand in stark contrast of the bands musical output of the past years but the listener finds themselves ay the same intersection of impassioned storytelling, manifest emotion and darkly beautiful ambience that Fink fans have.
