One of the great lost disco classics, Trax is Keith Forsey on drums and Pete Bellotte on bass, better known as the the rhythm section employed by Georgio Moroder at his studio in Munich. They appeared on all of Moroder's disco productions, most notably Donna Summer's mainstream success. Ace has long been associated with the Stax catalogue and we are continually looking for new ways to keep the connection going via packages of exciting vault discoveries. Many of our recent Stax compilations have concentrated on the company’s later era – the yellow period, as it’s known in collector circles – but we’re starting our 2016 schedule with a project that draws on releases from their earlier blue period.

The typical DMB concert during the Summer of 2014 was a little experimental. The band played two sets, the first featuring a cast of rotating acoustic performances of songs both old and new. The second set was a full fledged electric rock show. This set from the band’s stop in Tampa features unique versions of favorites from Snow Outside to I’ll Back You Up. We also get to hear some bowed bass in #27 and great percussion from Carter in the song Sweet. The second set features all bangers with the soaring vocals of So Right and the jazz explorations of Seek Up among the highlights. The evening ends with a great version of Good Good Time followed by You and Me.
In the spring of 2004, sessions at the band’s Charlottesville, VA studio gave way to a crop of newly crafted tunes heard later that summer. The band moves comfortably between untested material and radio hits throughout this set. From the ballad, Space Between, to the freshly unveiled Sugar Will, to the staple encore hit Ants Marching, it’s easy to understand why this show has been on the fans’ radar for the last 15 years.
