Since the rediscovery of Mel Bonis in which Laurent MARTIN participated in 1997 and the release a few years later of Florence Launay's exciting book "The Female Composers in France in the 19th century", the cause of Female Composers has finally advanced.

Point d’orgue d’une tournée dans des églises et cathédrales françaises, ce live au Mont Saint Michel permet à Laurent Voulzy de mettre en valeur les chansons les plus mystiques de son répertoire, à commencer par Caché derrière – qui ouvre d’ailleurs l’album. « Votre chant n’est pas liturgique, mais il est vraiment empreint de spiritualité », lui aurait d’ailleurs dit un prêtre après un concert. Accompagné de la harpiste américaine Naomi Greene et du claviériste Michel Amsellem, l’interprète de Cœur grenadine a eu l’idée de cette tournée au moment de la sortie de l’album Lys & Love en 2012, laquelle était déjà accompagnée d’une poignée de concerts dans des églises. Mais l’intérêt de Mont Saint Michel réside aussi dans le fait que Voulzy n’abandonne pas pour autant son amour de la pop – même si la réunion du catholicisme et d’un genre musical profane crée parfois une ambiance singulière, comme dans la reprise de My Sweet Lord de George Harrison, dans laquelle Alléluia remplace le Hare Krishna d'origine. Parmi les autres reprises de l’album, citons Ma seule amour (poème de Charles d’Orléans), Scarborough Fair (ballade médiévale popularisée par Simon & Garfunkel en 1966) et le chant traditionnel Amazing grace (avec la cornemuse de Bagad de Cesson-Sévigné).
