Martin and Lewis are former nightclub partners who are now enlisted in the Army. Sergeant Puccinelli (Dean Martin) now ranks above his former partner, Private First Class Korwin (Jerry Lewis). Puccinelli is desperately trying to get transferred from his dull job to active duty overseas. Meanwhile, all Korwin wants is a pass to see his wife and new baby. In addition, they have to avoid the wrath of Sergeant McVey (Mike Kellin). Along the way they both get to sing a few songs, and they get to recreate a scene from Going My Way where they imitate Bing Crosby and Barry Fitzgerald.

Au service militaire, le jeune Jerry Lewis endosse la panoplie parfaite de l'idiot de service balancé malgré lui dans des situations rocambolesques. Des scènes très amusantes, dont la fameuse séquence où Jerry Lewis est en prise avec un distributeur de boisson récalcitrant ! Comédie de potache qui égratigne à souhait les pesanteurs du système administratif militaire, "Le soldat récalcitrant" se base entièrement sur un comique de situation, mêlant quiproquos en tous genres et gags à répétition. Ce film que Walker réalise en 1950 marque la première rencontre entre deux légendes hollywoodiennes Jerry Lewis et Dean Martin et réjouira les amateurs de l'acteur de "Docteur Jerry et Mister Love".

Le ble en herbe/The Game of Love (1954)

La Bie en Herbe (The Flowering Herb) was the second of Autant-Lara's two directorial efforts for 1953. Philippe (Pierre-Michele Beck) is 16; Vinea (Nicole Berger) is 15. Friends since infancy, Philippe and Vinea have always regarded themselves as brother and sister. But as adolescence segues into puberty, the two youngsters fall in love. Though their parents are oblivious to their growing ardor, an older woman (Edwidge Feuillere) sums up the situation. She takes Philippe under her wing and initiates him sexually, so that Vinea's virtue will remain intact – at least for the time being. When released in America in 1954, La Bie en Herbe was rechristened The Game of Love.
