Len Garry

On this follow-up to 2014's "Fragile", composer, arranger and multi-instrumentalist Robert Len continues to enchant with his personal style. Through his warm interpretations on the flugelhorn, trumpet, guitar, flute and the many other instruments he has mastered, blended with his unique approach to cool jazz, Len creates an extraordinary acoustic balance allowing the emotion of his music to shine through.

Robert Len has a varied and impressive track record. A veteran of the Montreal International Jazz Festival, he has also played Montreal's Olympic Stadium with Orchestre Métropolitain and the Toronto Jazz Festival with the Denny Christianson Big Band. Over the years Len has developed a passion for multi-ethnic instruments, particularly flutes and percussion. The music he creates on "Fragile", in which passion, fieriness, freedom and zen spirit become entangled, is especially appealing.

He would be forgotten several decades later, but in the middle '60s Len Chandler was a reasonably well-known socially conscious folk singer/songwriter. Produced by the estimable John Hammond, his Columbia debut was commendably earnest and goodhearted New York 1960s folk.

iLenKa is an ensemble of varying dimensions, from two to six musicians, playing the music of composer and multi-instrumentalist Robert Len united with screenings and scenarios created by violinist Carole Meneghel.

Known to millions as the Head Judge of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, Len has sashayed his way to the top of the dance world. Beginning his dance life at the age of 21, he has gained years of vast knowledge and experience in Ballroom and Latin American dancing through teaching, competing and judging, making him a four-time British Champion. Len’s passion for dance and the music associated with it has been demonstrated in programmes made for BBC4 including Len Goodman’s Dance Band Days, Len Goodman’s Big Band Bonanza, Dancing Cheek to Cheek with Lucy Worsley and Dancing in the Blitz with Jools Holland and Lucy Worsley. Len has also appeared on BBC Radio 2 presenting his favourite music including some of the music featured in Strictly, those that influenced his life and include a variety of styles from Jazz to American Songbook to Pop.

Len is very excited to release his new self titled album on January 18th 2021. His new album will feature 11 songs including his interpretation of two jazz standards "Autumn Leaves" and "The Shadow of Your Smile".
