Paris, early Twentieth Century: in the space of three ballets, a previously unknown Russian composer revolutionised the music of his time. With The Firebird and Petrushka, respectively fairytale and folktale, and of course The Rite of Spring, a telluric invocation with its insanely innovative harmonies and rhythms, Stravinsky dynamised the Late Romantic orchestra, taking it to literally unheard-of places.

Would you know Miss Duval, composer of a single opera, The Geniuses, performed nine times in 1736, which was a great success and has never been revived since its creation at the Royal Academy of Music in Paris? Singer and composer, Mademoiselle Duval is the second woman to have created an opera there, following Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre.

Si sa vie reste mystérieuse, cette claveciniste confirmée au point d’éblouir le public en tenant le continuo à la création des Génies, écrivit une œuvre de divertissement contemporaine des Indes Galantes, déployant à chaque acte une nouvelle intrigue amoureuse centrée sur les Génies des Eaux (Les Nymphes), de l’Air (Les Sylphes), de la Terre (Les Gnomes) et du Feu (Les Salamandres). C’est une petite merveille que la curiosité de Camille Delaforge nous livre enfin, dirigeant avec passion cette rareté du répertoire français avec un absolu bonheur !

Dès leur création en 1723, Les Fêtes grecques et romaines, premier opéra de Colin de Blamont connut un succès retentissant. Synthèse entre la noblesse de la tragédie lyrique créée par Lully et le ton plus badin, avec ses divertissements chorégraphiques, de l’opéra-ballet créé par Campra, son livret redonne vie aux fêtes les plus connues de l’Histoire antique. L’éloquent Alcibiade se distingue lors des Jeux olympiques, Marc Antoine et Cléopâtre célèbrent les enivrantes Bacchanales & le poète Tibulle courtise avec fougue sa chère Délie à l’occasion des Saturnales… Valentin Tournet nous fait redécouvrir cette œuvre phare du Siècle des Lumières laissée bien trop longtemps dans l’ombre de ses fameux contemporains.

The eloquent Alcibiades distinguishes himself at the Olympic Games, Mark Antony and Cleopatra celebrate the intoxicating Bacchanalia, and the poet Tibullus passionately courts his beloved Delia at the Saturnalia… Valentin Tournet helps us rediscover this masterpiece of the Age of Enlightenment, which for far too long has been overshadowed by its famous contemporaries.

Started in 2014 as part of the anniversary of the death of Jean-Philippe Rameau with the recording of the Fêtes de Polymnie, the partnership between the Baroque Music Center of Versailles and the ensembles of Hungarian conductor György Vashegyi, Orfeo Orchestra and Purcell Choir, ends with the recording of another opera by Rameau, Les Boréades, in which the talented Sabine Devieilhe and Reinoud Van Mechelen take part.

The album "INTEGRAL LES McCANN 1959 - 1962" is a collection that highlights some of the best works from jazz pianist and vocalist Les McCann during the early years of his career. This remastered release from 2024 features McCann's soulful and groove-based style, combining elements of jazz, blues, and gospel, which helped him gain widespread recognition in the jazz scene of the 1960s.

For the second volume in his Couperin series, keyboard virtuoso Bertrand Cuiller paints a portrait of a young Couperin who, at the age of only seventeen, was appointed organist of Saint-Gervais in Paris - a prestigious position to attain at any age. It was also a position that soon translated into his appointment as organist of the king and harpsichord master of the royal children. Couperin's compositions from this period are marked by a surprising maturity of writing. Bertrand Cuiller's eloquent performances reveal all the diversity and color present in these works.

Entouré d’une malédiction persistante, le dernier opéra de Jean-Philippe Rameau, Les Boréades, a attendu plus de deux siècles pour être enfin représenté, une cascade d’ennuis ayant retardé sa création prévue en 1763 et finalement réalisée en… 1982, au Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, sous la direction de Sir John Eliot Gardiner. D’autres ennuis ont surgi depuis, à la suite d’un gros imbroglio juridique autour du manuscrit qui semble enfin résolu aujourd’hui. Ce chef-d’œuvre de l’opéra français est enfin rentré au répertoire de l’Opéra de Paris depuis 2003 seulement.
