Adapted from the novel by Vladimir Nabokov (previously filmed by Stanley Kubrick in 1962), Lolita stars Jeremy Irons as Humbert Humbert, a college literature professor. In early adolescence, Humbert fell hopelessly and tragically in love with a girl his own age, and, as he grew into adulthood, he never lost his obsession with "nymphets," teenagers who walk a fine line between being a girl and a woman. While looking for a place to live after securing a new teaching position, he meets Charlotte Haze (Melanie Griffith), a pretentious and annoying woman who seems desperately lonely and is obviously attracted to Humbert. Humbert pays her little mind until he meets her 13-year-old daughter Lolita (Dominique Swain), the image of the girl that Humbert once loved. Humbert moves into the Haze home as a boarder and eventually marries Charlotte in order to be closer to Lolita.

Humbert Humbert, a divorced British professor of French literature, travels to small-town America for a teaching position. He allows himself to be swept into a relationship with Charlotte Haze, his widowed and sexually famished landlady, whom he marries in order that he might pursue the woman's 14-year-old flirtatious daughter, Lolita, with whom he has fallen hopelessly in love, but whose affections shall be thwarted by a devious trickster named Clare Quilty.

Dans un voyage au bord de la mer Caspienne au nord de l’Iran, un groupe d’amis de classe moyenne se rassemble pour une courte période de trois jours. Ils sont des camarades de classe à la faculté de droit dans une université à Téhéran. Trois couples : Sepideh et son mari Amir, qui ont une petite fille ; Shohreh et son mari Peiman avec deux enfants, l’un des deux est un garçon nommé Arash ; Nazi et son mari Manouchehr. Le voyage est organisé par Sepideh qui a amené Elly, la maîtresse de garderie de sa petite fille, pour la présenter à Ahmad, un ami qui est revenu d’un voyage en Allemagne, probablement pour se marier.

Un ex-poliziotto quarantenne va a Teheran per incontrare il regista Makmalbaf e recitare nel suo ultimo film. Venti anni prima il regista aveva ferito il poliziotto con una coltellata, nel tentativo di disarmarlo per prendergli la pistola. Il cineasta, che lottava contro il regime dello Shah, fu arrestato e trascorse alcuni anni in prigione. Così, oggi, egli propone all'uomo di ricostruire cinematograficamente l'episodio: ognuno di loro sceglierà un ragazzo per interpretare i loro ruoli. I ragazzi scelti prendono le cose molto sul serio e, alla fine, non combatteranno, bensì, si offriranno l'un l'altro…del pane e dei fiori!
