On her second solo album Lisette Oropesa has combined two of her greatest loves, the French language and Italian bel canto. This recording with the Dresdner Philharmonie under the baton of Corrado Rovaris showcases the variety of lesser-known and more popular works by Rossini and Donizetti, featuring arias that contain coloratura, lyricism, drama, heightened emotion, and even comedy.

The newest recording by the Juno-Award winning Ottawa Bach Choir on the ATMA Classique label, features six Motets by J.S Bach: Singet dem Herrn, BWV 225; Der Geist hilft, BWV 226; Jesu, meine Freude, BWV 227; Fürchte dich nicht, BWV 228; Komm, Jesu, komm, BWV 229; and Lobet den Herrn, BWV 230. The choir is accompanied by an expanded baroque continuo, featuring Jonathan Oldengarm, organist; Matthew Larkin, harpsichord; Lucas Harris, theorbo; Jean-Christophe Lizotte, cello; and Reuven Rothman, double bass.

The Dresdner Philharmonie, Sächsischer Staatsopernchor Dresden and conductor Daniel Oren present Verdi’s masterpiece La Traviata, together with a stellar cast including René Barbera as Alfredo, Lester Lynch as Germont, and world star soprano Lisette Oropesa as Violetta.

Mozart has always been my favorite composer. I think I started to feel this strong connection to his music when I studied his concertos as a young flautist. I had to learn the language of the virtuosic writing he is so famous for, and be able to color and create musical phrases without the use of text.

The falling leaves of autumn, where winds, unleashed over the mead, blow trees barer and barer, carry leaves through the air, eddies on the ground and it becomes silent… Sounds between falling leaves are, for the most part, elegiac, modal songs in simple harmonies whose motions are gentle and soft and more inwardly directed. In nuances and subtlest vibrations, a massive force is unfolded from a delicate, virtuosic play for tranquillity and slow flow. Lisette Spinnler's songs are dialogues with nature, which have lived in and touched her soul since childhood. Her songs, the airy vocals, shimmering and shadowy, tinted and elaborately formed, are natural and do not seek to be an event. However, they are an event, provided that we listen.
