Universally known as the King of the Mambo, Pérez Prado was the single most important musician involved in the hugely popular Latin dance craze. Whether he actually created the rhythm is somewhat disputed, but it's abundantly clear that Prado developed it into a bright, swinging style with massive appeal for dancers of all backgrounds and classes. Prado's mambo was filled with piercing high-register trumpets, undulating saxophone counterpoint, atmospheric organ (later on), and harmonic ideas borrowed from jazz.

Sony Masterworks has announced a soundtrack album for the Netflix original movie Roma. The soundtrack is curated by director Alfonso Cuarón and soundtrack producers/music supervisors Lynn Fainchtein and Randall Poster and brings us back to the sonic Mexico of the 1970s, when the famous XEW, a reference of Mexican radio, transmitted English pop and rock, while gradually introducing the new Mexican pop, through performers like José José, Juan Gabriel, and Rigo Tovar, musical icons that in the present, have remained as references of Mexican and Latin American music. Diego Maroto was born in Mexico City on May 9th of 1968. In 1985 he started to take private lessons to play the saxophone from teachers Larry Roussell and Alfonso Martínez. From 1987 to 1988 he studied art history at the Universidad Iberoamericana. In 1988 he joined the jazz worksop at the Escuela Superior de Música (INBA), where he was taught improvisation, arrangement and composition by Francisco Tellez. Then continued with private lessons from Danny Matusack (New England Conservatory of Music, Boston, Mass.) and from Darryl Winsman (A well known sax player from thecalifornia scene).

Described as "somewhere between a comforting whisper and a cogent declaration" by The New York Times, Lauren Henderson, paints reflective and impassioned stories with her haunting voice and enchanting compositions.
