Lynn Rene Anderson was an American country music singer known for a string of hits throughout the late 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, most notably her 1970 worldwide megahit "Rose Garden". Anderson's crossover appeal and regular exposure on national television helped her become one of the most popular and successful country stars of the 1970s. This 2018 Multichannel SACD release from Dutton Vocalion features the classic Lynn Anderson albums "Rose Garden" and "Lynn Anderson's Greatest Hits".

When Columbia Records released Cheryl Lynn's second album, "In Love", in 1979, the Los Angeles native had a lot to live up to. Her 1978 smash "Got to Be Real" had become one of the definitive anthems of the Disco Era, reaching #1 on Billboard s R&B singles chart and #12 on Billboard s pop singles chart. On top of that, "Star Love" (another single from Lynn's self-titled debut album of 1978) was a #16 R&B hit in Billboard. So Columbia had high hopes for "In Love". The album was a huge success and made it to #5 on Billboard's R&B albums chart and sold more than one million copies in the United States alone.

Best known for her Grammy-winning smash "Rose Garden," Lynn Anderson was one of the most popular female country singers of the early '70s, helped by her regular exposure on national television. Anderson was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and grew up in Sacramento, California; her mother Liz was a professional songwriter best known for penning Merle Haggard's early hits "(All My Friends Are Gonna Be) Strangers" and "The Fugitive" (the latter with her husband, Carey). Naturally, Lynn picked up music too, and performed as a singer and guitarist during her teen years.
