After the much-discussed, uncompleted Smile project – which was supposed to take the innovations of Pet Sounds to even grander heights – collapsed, the Beach Boys released Smiley Smile in its place…

Workshy is a band formed in London in 1986 by Michael McDermott, Chrysta Jones and Kevin Kehoe (who left in 1992). They are perhaps best known for their songs “Never The Same” and “You’re The Summer” as well as covers of the Bacharach/David song “I Say A Little Prayer”, “If I Ever Lose This Heaven” and Carole King’s “It’s Too Late.”
Contemporaries of the Beatles, along with other Liverpudlian rockers like Gerry & the Pacemakers and Rory Storm & the Hurricanes, the Remo Four were lost to the darkest corners of Merseybeat history, with only See for Miles' 1992 compilation The Best of Tommy Quickly, Johnny Sandon, Gregory Phillips & the Remo Four – a disc featuring singers the group backed, along with a handful of their tracks – being the only reissue to surface until Bear Family's 2010 Smile!, Peter Gunn…And More. Only one of the songs on that 1992 disc – a cover of “Peter Gunn” – is on this 2010 CD, which contains the entirety of their 1967 LP Smile!, released only in Germany, and singles surrounding the album.
Three Blind Mice Blu-spec CD reissue series. Limited paper sleeve edition. Singer Koji Moriyama was just 33 years old, but had been singing professionally for over 15 years when he recorded this, his second full-length LP for Three Blind Mice, a label that began a trend of providing recording opportunities to talented but underappreciated Japanese jazz singers in the 1970s.
Released in 2009, Give Me That Slow Knowing Smile is the eighth studio album from Swedish singer/songwriter Lisa Ekdahl, but her first to be recorded in English in nine years. Produced by Mathias Blomdahl and Tobias Fröberg, the follow-up to Parlor Av Glas, recorded in her native Stockholm, focuses on a more folk-pop sound than her previous bossa nova/jazz efforts, and includes the title track lead single.
Album released through Diwphalanx Records in early 2008, featuring guest musicians Michio Kurihara of Ghost and Stephen O'Malley of Sunn O))), both of whom have collaborated with Boris in the past. Although it was ultimately an unsatisfying album, failing to live up to the promise of its fabulous single, "To Be a Lover," Whiplash Smile still burned clean with an immediately recognizable 1980s energy…
New for 2019 is this latest ELEGANT SIMPLICITY release "The Ghost of a Smile", featuring a stellar cast of additional musicians. Not a concept album as such - though the songs are thematically linked - and all deal with magic, mystery and the unexplained. It's a very moody album with lots of interesting twist and turns. This is probably our most musically adventurous album, blending progressive rock, hard rock, folk, orchestral and new age into a melting pot of melody.
