Michel de Villers made the beautiful evenings of La Rose Rouge before attending the Trois Mailletz with his accomplices Guy Lafitte and André Persiani. Attached to the swing, the saxophonist worked to demonstrate that good music and entertainment were perfectly reconcilable. A point of view shared by Boris Vian, artistic director of Philips discs. His clientele demanding dance records, Boris supervised the recordings. Entrusted to Villers, arranged by Persiani, these big band faces from 1958 and 1959 - we ignore the staff - instrumental adaptations of fashionable themes, still retain all their charm. In 1961, Jean-Christophe Averty produced a Claude Bolling Special Show for television. The show featured the pianist's nonette, a medium formation that sounded like great. In the absence of images, the music testifies to it.

At the dawn of the 60’s, well before pop’s ascensionnotes along with its given extravagances, a few turbulent arrangers and other exceptionally gifted orchestrators were already attempting out of the ordinary musical experiences, amusing themselves by using major orchestras in a fully-fledged laboratory capacity. They would do so by using stereophonic effects, exotic percussion and alternatively played instruments to give their compositions strange colours and audacious perspectives. Michel Legrand, a rapidly rising young composer at this time and breaking with the most complex writing techniques, was part of this generation of untamed conductors with very big ideas within which included a wide array of personalities from Esquival, Les Baxter and Lalo Schifrin to Quincy Jones.

"Horizons" is a meeting between the cellist and three contemporary composers: Philippe Hersant, Pēteris Vasks and Thierry Maillard. The program includes cello concertos that have rarely been performed: Philippe Hersant's Concerto No. 1 (1989), Pēteris Vasks' Concerto No. 1 (1994) and Thierry Maillard's Arckepek (2014), written for her. They play with different numbers: from the chamber orchestra to the big band, creating three horizons and three climates.
