Maria Kazue

This Italian singer/songwriter and actress was born in Torre Annunziata in 1969. Making her debut at the famous Festivalbar singing contest in 1986 with the song "Ragazzo Solo" (Lonely Boy), she went on to become a popular recording artist. Specializing in Neapolitan pop, between 1993 and 2008 she recorded no fewer than nine albums, and in 2009 proved there was more than one string to her bow when she won the prestigious David di Donatello Award for her acting performance in Matteo Garrone's crime drama film Gomorra. In 2010 she performed at the Sanremo Music Festival, duetting with Nino d'Angelo on the song "Jammo Jà" (Come on Let's Go), and a year later her song "Ragione e Sentimento" (Hearts and Minds) featured on the soundtrack of the movie Tatanka. In 2013 she returned with the mini-album Libera (Free), heralding the record's arrival with another appearance at Sanremo, where she performed the songs "È Colpa Mia" (It's My Fault) and "Quando Non Parlo" (When I Do Not Speak).

Maria Callas wurde am 2. Dezember 1923 im New Yorker Stadtteil Washington Heights als zweite Tochter der griechischen Einwanderer George Kalogeropoulos (1881–1972) und Elmina Evangelia Dimitriadou (1894–1982) aus Meligalas geboren. Ihr älterer Bruder Vassilios war in Griechenland an Typhus gestorben. Die Eltern lebten zu diesem Zeitpunkt seit sechs Monaten in den USA.

The Swiss composer Émile Jaques-Dalcroze (1865–1950) is best remembered for his development of Eurhythmics, which teaches the appreciation of music through movement. Singer and actress Maria Dolores Pradera was born in Madrid on August 29, 1924. She spent much of her childhood in Chile, her family brought there by her father's business. She began working as an actress on both stage and screen as early as her late teens. Her first major works were the films Yo No Ne Caso in 1944 and Los Habitantes de la Casa Deshabitada in 1946. It was while working on Los Habitantes that Pradera met Fernando Fernan Gómez, whom she would marry in 1947. From there she would perform in various theaters in Spain, France, and Mexico, collaborating with the most important directors of the day. As a singer, Pradera was known for her smooth voice, perfect diction, and intuitive nature in a variety of styles.

The fame and legacy of Maria Callas are nearly unsurpassed in the modern history of opera. Her fame has transcended the usual boundaries of classical music, and she has been the inspiration for several movies as well as the successful Broadway play "Master Class." Her extensive catalogue of recordings remains among the most coveted and controversial for both her fans and detractors. Though American by birth, Callas (born Maria Anne Sofia Cecilia Kalogeropoulos) was born of Greek parents, and at age 13 her mother took her back to Greece because of financial difficulties caused by the Great Depression.

The two Maries and their great love for the Saviour form the theme of "All'amore immenso": Mary, the Mother of God, and Mary Magdalene, the sinner who stands with Jesus' mother at the cross of Jesus and meets the Risen Lord at the tomb. While the Mother of God already found great veneration in the Middle Ages, the figure of Mary Magdalene received special attention in numerous oratorios in 17th and 18th century Italy.
