Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga is an upcoming American comedy film directed by David Dobkin and written by Andrew Steele and Will Ferrell. The film follows Icelandic singers Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir (Ferrell and Rachel McAdams) as they are given the chance to represent their country at the Eurovision Song Contest. Pierce Brosnan, Dan Stevens, and Demi Lovato also star.

It is an adventure to immerse oneself in the Norwegian treasury of song. There is so much magnificent music, and so much of it bears witness to the time in which it was written. It tells which poets were setting the tone, how strong were the influences from European musical life, or whether the composer looked more to what Norwegian traditional music had to offer.

For this new recording, taking the form of an initiatory journey, Marianne Piketty and Le Concert Idéal explore the subject of night-time and the fascination it holds for composers. From the capricious and exuberant nights of Antonio Vivaldi to the melancholy of Lili Boulanger’s D’un soir triste and the greater optimism of its partner piece, D’un matin de printemps, via the poetic and sensuous dreams of Eugène Ysaÿe, the musicians of Le Concert Idéal travel to different places and different periods in time, looking at the night sky, and reaching the present day with the concerto Bajo la estrella, commissioned from the composer Alex Nante and recorded here for the first time.

Everything seems possible, under the darkened sky.Canzone di Notte is a collection of melodies that conjure up hopes and dreams that belong only to the night. They may be enchanting, mysterious, or fragile. Through the colours of bel canto, each aria allows the lyricism of the voice to carry you away, gently rock you, and envelop you. As bel canto is at the base of lyrical vocal technique, it is not surprising that many of the arias performed on this album are often used for voice training. Certain pieces, such as those by Schubert, were in fact composed for this purpose.
