Encyclopedia of Continuum Mechanics by Holm Altenbach
English | EPUB | 2020 | 2837 Pages | ISBN : 3662558777 | 341.38 MB

This Encyclopedia covers the entire science of continuum mechanics including the mechanics of materials and fluids. The encyclopedia comprises mathematical definitions for continuum mechanical modeling, fundamental physical concepts, mechanical modeling methodology, numerical approaches and many fundamental applications. The modelling and analytical techniques are powerful tools in mechanical civil and areospsace engineering, plus in related fields of plasticity, viscoelasticity and rheology. Tensor-based and reference-frame-independent, continuum mechanics has recently found applications in geophysics and materials.

Geometrical Foundations of Continuum Mechanics: An Application to First- and Second-Order Elasticity and Elasto-Plasticity by Paul Steinmann
English | PDF | 2015 | 534 Pages | ISBN : 3662464594 | 5.2 MB

This book illustrates the deep roots of the geometrically nonlinear kinematics of generalized continuum mechanics in differential geometry. Besides applications to first- order elasticity and elasto-plasticity an appreciation thereof is particularly illuminating for generalized models of continuum mechanics such as second-order (gradient-type) elasticity and elasto-plasticity.

Principles of Continuum Mechanics: A Basic Course for Physicists by Zdeněk Martinec
English | EPUB | 2019 | 249 Pages | ISBN : 303005389X | 12.7 MB

This book addresses the basic concepts of continuum mechanics, that is, the classical field theory of deformable bodies. The theory is systematically developed, from the kinematics to the balance equations, the material theory, and the entropy principles. In turn, the linear-elastic solids, the ideal liquid and the Newtonian liquid are presented in detail as concrete applications.

Elements of Continuum Mechanics and Conservation Laws

Elements of Continuum Mechanics and Conservation Laws by Sergei K. Godunov , Evgenii I. Romenskii
English | PDF | 2003 | 263 Pages | ISBN : 0306477351 | 17.9 MB

Elements of Continuum Mechanics and Conservation Laws presents a systematization of different models in mathematical physics, a study of the structure of conservation laws, thermodynamical identities, and connection with criteria for well-posedness of the corresponding mathematical problems.
The theory presented in this book stems from research carried out by the authors concerning the formulations of differential equations describing explosive deformations of metals. In such processes, elasticity equations are used in some zones, whereas hydrodynamics equations are stated in other zones. Plastic deformations appear in transition zones, which leads to residual stresses. The suggested model contains some relaxation terms which simulate these plastic deformations. Certain laws of thermodynamics are used in order to describe and study differential equations simulating the physical processes. This leads to the special formulation of differential equations using generalized thermodynamical potentials.

A Literary Biography of Robin Blaser: Mechanic of Splendor by Miriam Nichols
English | PDF,EPUB | 2019 | 317 Pages | ISBN : 3030183262 | 17.02 MB

A Literary Biography of Robin Blaser: Mechanic of Splendor is the first major study illustrating Robin Blaser’s significance to North American poetry. The poet Robin Blaser (1925–2009) was an important participant in the Berkeley Renaissance of the 1950s and San Francisco poetry circles of the 1960s. The book illuminates Blaser’s distinctive responses to and relationships with familiar writers including Robert Duncan, Jack Spicer, and Charles Olson via their correspondence. Blaser contributed to the formation of the serial poem as a dominant mode in post-war New American poetry through his work and engagement with the poetry communities of the time.
