Melanie Phlips

As a Verve Remixed project, with Y'all Don't (Really) Care About Black Women, Melanie Charles set out to breathe new energy into this selection of songs. Melanie was immediately drawn to the rapturous voices of Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughn, which inspired her arrangements of "God Bless the Child" and "Detour Ahead." Y'all Don't (Really) Care About Black Women is a love letter to the unheralded work of black women. Melanie asks listeners to take as much responsibility for black women as she does for their work.

Melanie Durrant is a Canadian singer/songwriter. Born and raised in Toronto, Melanie attended the Earl Haig School of the Arts. Her sophomore album Anticipation was released February 2015 and has garnered a Juno nomination for Best Soul/ R&B. The album was released through her own independent imprint Melo-D's Inc.

This vinyl LP came out in 1973. But the songs are actually from The British movie soundtrack, All The Right Noises 1971. Starring Tom Bell and Olivia Hussey. One of only two 70's albums by Melanie never to be released on CD. They planned to release in in Nov. 2016, then Dec, and then Jan. 2017. And Amazon decided not to release it on CD at all. Perhaps sales weren't as big as expected. But they let a lot of people down. Because this album is beautiful and haunting, like the movie soundtrack. If you can't find this on CD. You can order a used import vinyl copy of the soundtrack, because they are essentially the same. This will be the best music you never heard of, when you purchase it. My inspiration for Seven came from 7 years of building a new life in New York City. They always say that every seven years you become a new person. You literally have a new skin and the body produces new cells every 7 years. So you are literally not the same person every seven years. New York’s grit and glitz, two faced grin, definitely inspired the urban sound of this record.

Melanie Andrews is a self taught Baker with over 45 years experience of which 32 of them professional. Melanie lives, breathes and dreams of all things Home Baked and has put her money where her mouth is and is the proprietor of the Successful Craigard Tearoom chain in Scotland.

Melanie's solo set was short but sweet though you can hear her anxiety in her voice. She performed at 11 pm on Friday, the 15th. Melanie played instead of The Incredible String Band who refused to play while it was raining.
