is the name of three comic book series published by Marvel Comics based on the mutant superhero group The X-Men. The first series, published in 2001, used time travel as a plot device to explore the themes and history of the X-Men, and to resolve some several dangling plotlines. The second series, began in 2009, bears no relation to the 2001 series and is basically intended by its writer, veteran X-Men author Chris Claremont, as a continuation of his storylines for and that were never enacted after his resignation from the title following X-Men #3. Set in an alternate continuity of the Marvel Universe, it ran bi-weekly as a regular title for 24 issues with the final issue released on May 19, 2010.
