A group of strangers walked into a room in LA. One by one they stood up, shared their most private thoughts, struggles, and desires. To many this sounds terrifying but, after seeing a spoken word open mic, Micah was hooked. That day he decided to give spoken word poetry a try. It worked. Like most kids growing up in Long Beach during the 90s, Micah was raised under the influence of hip hop. He regularly memorized rap lyrics from his favorite songs. But it wasn't until college when he stared writing his own music; starting with hip hop and then branching out into the blues.

'And The Pioneer Saboteurs' is the fourth full album by Abilene, Texas-based singer-songwriter Micah P. Hinson. The album was mixed in Argyle, Texas with Matt Pence of Texas outfit Centro-matic, then mastered in Nashville by guys who cut their teeth working on Dylan and Stax Records.Some strings were recorded in a canyon in Colorado and some of the strings were recorded in small apartments in Zaragoza, Spain. The string arrangers are Eric Bachmann and "a fella from Spain I call Manitee", and the players include members of Techanko, Devotcha, Crooked Fingers.Micah P. Hinson is currently completing a set of Spanish EPs and is also releasing a Spanish-language novel.
