C’est à Chypre que naît Moshé Michaël Brand Sela. Ses parents, juifs originaires respectivement de Russie (son père) et de Pologne (sa mère) sont alors en route pour la Palestine, qui deviendra bientôt Israël. Bloqués sur l’île de Chypre par l’armée anglaise, les époux Brand logent de longs mois dans un camp de réfugiés : c’est donc à Famagouste (district de Nicosie, Chypre) que le futur Mike Brant voit le jour, dans un hôpital de fortune, le 1er février 1947.

Nate Walcott is a composer, arranger, keyboard player, and trumpet player. He is a member of the band Bright Eyes, and has composed the scores for several feature-length films, including the 2014 blockbuster The Fault In Our Stars; Midnight Sun (2018, starring Bella Thorne), Come And Find Me, (2016, starring Aaron Paul and Annabelle Wallis); the Josh Boone written and directed Stuck in Love, (2012, starring Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Connelly); Lovely Still, (2008, starring Ellen Burstyn and Martin Landau), and the short film Wig Shop, (2016, starring Emily Mortimer). He also co-composed (alongside friends Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice) the score for the film Song One (2014), starring Anne Hathaway. Most recently, he has composed the score for the mini-series “The Stand”, an adaptation of the book by Stephen King, which is currently streaming on CBS All Access.

Mike Batt’s long and varied career is celebrated on his new Penultimate Collection double album, with tracks highlighting his work as performer, composer, arranger and key British musical figure – but especially as performer.Not only does it feature Batt’s original solo material – including his international solo hits – but also his own versions of songs he wrote for other artists. The Closest Thing To Crazy, Bright Eyes, A Winter’s Tale, Caravan Song and I Feel Like Buddy Holly are given Mike’s own distinctive treatment, alongside his orchestral works, and contributions from Colin Blunstone, Bonnie Tyler and Family’s Roger Chapman.

Bright Phoebus, Lal and Mike Waterson’s 1972 folk-noir masterpiece, has long been recognised as one of British music's legendary lost records. Following the parting of ways of The Watersons and freed from the strictures of folk orthodoxy, Lal and Mike Waterson’s love of words allowed them to serve the needs of their songs in ways that weren’t possible when singing already written songs.

Boxed is a compilation album written and mostly performed by Mike Oldfield, released in 1976. It features quadraphonic remixed versions of his first three albums (Tubular Bells, Hergest Ridge and Ommadawn) and some collaborations. Oldfield later explained that instead of being true 4 channel sound, the initial quad remix of Tubular Bells, released a few months after the stereo version, was a "strange fake out-of-phase system", because it was so complex a mix without automation. The quad remix of Tubular Bells on Boxed was entirely different and true 4 channel sound (later released on SACD). The Boxed-CD version still contains the SQ-encoded quad mixes and plays as normal stereo without a quad decoder. The SQ quad remix Hergest Ridge is the only version of the album available on CD, as Oldfield disliked the original vinyl mix. "The Sailor's Hornpipe" finale from Tubular Bells has an extended speech from Viv Stanshall, which is from the recording sessions at The Manor Studio (see Tubular Bells original ending). Tubular Bells was re-mixed in quad by Phil Newell, assisted by Alan Perkins. Hergest Ridge was re-mixed in quad by Mike Oldfield. Ommadawn was re-mixed in quad by Mike Oldfield and Phil Newell.
