Defending the entrance into Provence for more than 400 years, the Citadel of Sisteron is a fortress with a unique silhouette that is one with the rock. The guardian of a natural door of titanic proportions, it is built on both sides of a particularly steep rocky ridge. How did the builders manage to turn this constraint into an asset? What techniques did they use to erect colossal platforms on the steep slopes, nested in each other? On what vestiges of the past did they rely to shape this marvel of military architecture?

After graduating from high school 19 year old Göran goes to his uncle Anders's farm in the countryside for recreation. It's summer and a lot of work to do at the farm, but he, the city student, isn't accustomed to that. He falls in love with 17 year old Kerstin, and suddenly he is very engaged in country life. Göran is a foreigner, but he quickly blends in with the village youth. They are in a bitter conflict with the vicar, who condemns all their activities as immoral. When the vicar forbids the youth to use the school for their meetings anymore, Anders gives them an old barn, which they start renovating. Kerstin has a strict mother, who in vain forbids her to take part in the youth activities. She goes there with Göran. She is a bit shy, but the romance between them develops step by step, until it is fulfilled a summer night, when they swim naked in a lake. "Des Racines & des Ailes" vous propose une émission spéciale au cœur de la Provence. Le magazine, présenté par Louis Laforge, installera son plateau à Aix-en-Provence, au sommet de la Cathédrale, sur la place de l’Archevêché, ainsi qu’au Pavillon de Vendôme… Des lieux emblématiques de la passionnante histoire de cette ville, riche de deux cents hôtels particuliers, et qui connut son âge d’or au XVIIème et XVIIIème siècle.

Les villages perchés de l’arrière-pays niçois et les Gorges du Verdon sont des destinations de vacances prisées, mais aussi des lieux de vie privilégiés…

Des Racines et des Ailes installe son plateau à Marseille, désignée capitale européenne de la culture pour l'année 2013. Pour l'occasion, la plus ancienne cité de France s'est métamorphosée avec pour ambition de devenir le nouveau « phare » de la Méditerranée. Pendant plusieurs mois, ses équipes ont suivi les multiples transformations de la cité phocéenne : du Vieux-Port rendu aux piétons au palais Longchamp restauré, en passant par le front de mer qui a inspiré les architectes du monde entier… Parmi ces projets ambitieux : le MuCEM, le Musée des Civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée. Cette prouesse architecturale réalisée par Rudy Ricciotti constitue, avec la rénovation du Fort Saint-Jean, la vitrine de la renaissance culturelle de Marseille.

Carole Gaessler explore les rives de la Durance, la rivière la plus importante de Provence, et part à la rencontre de ses habitants. Elle découvre ainsi le quotidien de Nadette et Claude Devalle, gardiens de refuge, qui ont restauré un hameau d'alpage, à 2100 mètres d'altitude. Amélie Baum, guide du patrimoine, fait découvrir l'héritage de Vauban, à Briançon et Mont-Dauphin. Alexandre Besseau navigue, quant à lui, au fil du Guil et de la Durance, tandis que Sharon Halperin et Jacques Peureux présentent le château de Picomtal, une citadelle du XIe siècle qu'ils ont transformée en maison d'hôtes.
