Recorded and mixed at Rockfield Studios. Originally released in 1987 on Flicknife Records (SHARP 040). This release includes two extra tracks (#12 & #13). Out and Intake is a 1987 (see 1987 in music) live/studio album by the English space rock group Hawkwind. The album is compiled from various sources: studio out-takes from 1982; live recordings from 1982's Choose Your Masques tour; studio out-takes from 1987. Dave Brock stated of the release that "it was bits and pieces we had hanging around, weird things like "Turner Point". Harvey had "Cajun Jinx". It was really just to finance us all and keep the whole thing going". Of the 1987 studio out-takes, there were re-recordings of old tracks: "Ejection" from Robert Calvert's 1974 album Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters, and "Assassins of Allah" (also known as "Hassan-i-Sabbah") from the 1977 album Quark, Strangeness and Charm.

Pianist Bud Powell's two recording sessions for Victor during 1956-57 resulted in 22 selections; this CD contains 18 of them. Powell was not in the best of shape during this period and he is erratic in these trio outings with bassist George Duvivier and drummer Art Taylor. Quite frequently a brilliant chorus is followed by one in which Powell gets lost, making the performances very interesting, to say the least.

1987: What The Fuck's Going On is the 1987 debut album by The Justified Ancients Of Mu Mu. The British duo would become better known as The JAMS, who would also become known as The Timelords, who later became better known as The KLF, among other smaller monikers. This is the album that was released and banned due to unauthorized samples. This was then released on compact disc a number of times but it remains unknown if they were released secretly by the Mu Mu crew or if it was illegally pressed. This pressing released in 1991 by B&M Productions flips each side of the record so so tracks 1-3 were meant to be Side 2 of the original album while tracks 4-7 are meant to be Side 1 so many who first listened to this album heard it with reversed sides.

While he makes his fame and fortune cutting blues-rock, guitarist Duke Robillard periodically issues albums of stylish, restrained, subtly swinging jazzy material. This date includes guest appearances from swing-influenced contemporary instrumentalists such as tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton and guitarist Chris Flory, who teams with Robillard on "Glide On" for some excellent twin guitar fireworks. Otherwise, it's Jim Kelly who matches licks with Robillard on "Jim Jam" and "What's Your Story, Morning Glory." It's relaxed, elegant music, with just enough grit to keep things interesting.

With hype building behind a clutch of successful singles, London quartet Then Jerico made its full-length debut in 1987 with the grandiosely titled First (The Sound of Music). The album, mostly produced by Owen Davies, actually featured a sound common in the mid- to late '80s: massive backbeats married to the big guitars that had come back into vogue. Atop it all sat the impassioned, warbling vocals of Mark Shaw, whose haircut and cheekbones made him a strong contender for the U.K.'s leading pinup of the moment. But the group wanted to be seen as a band – and taken seriously – and First wasn't about to turn into any crass chart cash in.

WHEN GUITARISTJohn Norum left Europe in 1986, at the very height of their popularity, the news was met with shock and incredulity. It was a stunning decision considering that he had been a founding member of the band (and its predecessor Force) for seven years and seemed so musically at ease with their exciting and successful brand of melodic rock. There was a lot of head scratching and amazement that someone with his fortitude and talent could turn his back on mass adoration and financial security by leaving Europe to follow his own muse. But all was not lost as John’s game plan was simple and deftly executed, setting course for a well received solo career. Recruiting a new backing band of long-time musical friends (including Marcel Jacob, a former Europe member, on bass) and continuing his relationship with Swedish executives at the Sony label he redefined his ambitions away from the lighter pop rock path of Europe. This time around the music was harder, heavier and full of serious conviction, allowing John to unleash full on guitar work, woven within leaner and meaner songs. Whilst his soloing had always been impressive, this time around the playing was simply out of this world.
