Gentlemanly, well-played blues that suffers from covering songs so indelibly linked with their creators (Muddy Waters' "Mannish Boy," Freddie King's "It's Too Bad") that the band never develops its own identity. Vocalist/guitarist Ben Wilson acquits himself quite nicely with his fluid, melodic lead playing.
There are some magical moments on this quartet set featuring pianist Ahmad Jamal, bassist James Cammack, drummer David Bowles and percussionist Willie White. Jamal's control of dynamics and inventive use of space proved to be as effective as it had been when he first made his mark in the 1950s, although his chord voicings and general style had evolved. Jamal and his group perform ten of his originals with taste, swing and subtle surprises.

Another very good record from this Asian musician. The music is a graceful, crystal clean and dynamic oriental New Age. Not really floating and not linear at all. The music is pure source of natural energy. The tracks are definitely more acoustic than electric. The songs are rather loaded: classical strings arrangements, Asian string instruments (exotic harp among others), woodwind instruments, modern keyboards and beat, exotic percussions. It has some elements from Andreas Vollenweider and Checkfield, put into an Asian style. The music is delightful and colorful.
Pieces of Eight is the eighth studio album by Styx, released on September 1, 1978. Like the band's previous album, The Grand Illusion (1977), it managed to achieve triple platinum certification, thanks to the hit singles "Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)" and "Renegade". The band members produced and recorded the album (like their previous three efforts) at Paragon Studios in Chicago with recording engineer Barry Mraz and mixing engineer Rob Kingsland. "I'm O.K." was recorded at Paragon and St. James Cathedral. This would be the last album to be produced at Paragon Studios. The album's cover was done by Hipgnosis. DeYoung stated in the 1991 interview with Redbeard on the "In the Studio" episode that he initially hated the cover but grew to like it as he got older.
