Jalyn Records is back! The Dayton, Ohio label from the creative mind of bluegrass legend Jack Lynch originally ran from the early '60s through the late '70s. Working out of his apartment on Brown Street, Lynch turned out a steady run of hard-driving bluegrass, country, and gospel sides cut by local pickers and big names alike, including Ralph Stanley and Don Reno. Decades on, these records are now lovingly remastered for modern ears and available as remastered version for the first time. On this album, Lee Allen and the Dew Mountain Boys bring mountain music back to it's raw, unfiltered roots, where the only thing polished is the sincerity in their voices. Captured live in a humble hall outside Asheville, this album pulses with the honesty of a band grounded in tradition - no frills, just sharp picking, tight harmonies, and the kind of hard-lived emotion that only mountain music can carry.

Bella White’s new album "Among Other Things" sees her music evolving as she embraces a fuller band sound while continuing to write the kind of deeply personal, intimate lyrics that made Just Like Leaving such a captivating debut. Produced by Jonathan Wilson (Angel Olsen, Father John Misty, Margo Price, Billy Strings) at his Topanga Canyon Studios and featuring an array of first-rate musicians including Wilson on drums, Big Thief’s Buck Meek on guitar, and string arranger and keyboard player Drew Erikson (Lana Del Rey).

Anathema have spent the vast majority of their career making music that defies description. Formed in the mid 90s, they have risen to become one of the UK's most cherished and critically acclaimed rock bands. Led by brothers Daniel and Vincent Cavanagh, Anathema recorded "The Optimist" in winter 2016 at Attica Studio in Donegal and Castle of Doom Studios in Glasgow with producer Tony Doogan (Mogwai, Belle & Sebastian, Super Furry Animals) at the helm. Doogan's influence is instantly tangible; for the first time in years Anathema recorded as a live band for an album, capturing an energy normally only present on stage.

When Creed Taylor was setting up his CTI label one of his proposed signings was Billy Vera. This led to a deal for Vera’s younger sister Kathy McCord. In fact, McCord was the first artist signed and recorded by CTI. Her debut, Kathy McCord was released in 1970. Although the label would go on to establish a fine reputation in jazz, “Kathy McCord” was a folk rock album. A gifted young poet the 17-year old McCord wrote many of the tracks on the album which were then interpreted in the studio by a crack team of jazz musicians that included Harvey Brooks (bass), Hubert Laws (flute), John Hall (guitar) and Wells Kelly and Ed Shaugnessy (drums). Musically and lyrically both the musicians and McCord stretched out on tracks like ‘Rainbow Ride’, ‘Jennipher’, ‘Candle Waxing’ and ‘Take Away This Pain’ to conjure up an amazing fusion of folk and jazz. The only cover on show was a version of Lennon and McCartney’s ‘She’s Leaving Home’ which McCord repurposed as ‘I’m Leaving Home’.

Ten years after the commercial zenith of Monster and seven years after the departure of linchpin Bill Berry, R.E.M. have never seemed as directionless as they do on their 13th album, Around the Sun. To a certain extent, R.E.M. have seemed unsure ever since Monster – sporadically brilliant as it is, New Adventures in Hi-Fi was an effort to clear the decks and redefine the band in the wake of its breakthrough to superstar status. It pointed in a few directions the group could follow, but Berry left the band before they could follow those paths, leaving Peter Buck, Mike Mills, and Michael Stipe at a bit of a loss on what to do next.
