Jazz Goes To Church is the first and only album by Father Jack Herrera & The Trip ESP. Herrera was a reverend at The Lutheran Church of North America at Luther Place Memorial Church in Washington, DC, and this album is a musical service. Herrera, who played with the Benny Goodman Orchestra, offers sermons but also plays flute and clarinet with the trio, which included Gene Rush on piano, Steve Novosel on bass and Jimmy Hopps on drums. This was released on Enterprise Records, then a subsidiary of Atlantic Records but would become known as the primary home of soul singer/songwriter/musician Isaac Hayes. The album includes a rendition of Miles Davis' "So What" that opens Side 2. This is ripped from vinyl.
