When this original series first came to town, it boasted a breath of fresh air amidst a tiring tide of 60s garage punk leftovers. Lovingly compiled, long-gone 45s tell of innocent, adolescent ambitions while laying the foundations for something much bigger. The blueprint for punk rock, metal, indie pop and grunge lay here. Adolescent angst, juvenile fun; call it what you like, but teenage kicks don t get better than this!! Painstakingly restored from long forgotten original vinyl artefacts, this handsome edition of Fuzz, Flaykes and Shakes collects together all 7 original volumes, complimented by a 76-page perfect bound booklet crammed with background liners, rare photos and original memorabilia.
Any discussion of the Top 100 '90s Rock Albums will have to include some grunge, and this one is no different. A defining element of that decade, the genre (and the bands that rose to fame playing it) was given credit for revitalizing rock at a badly needed moment. That said, there's far more to the story. Our list of the Top 100 '90s Rock Albums, presented in chronological order, takes in the rich diversity of the period.
This year, Parlophone will not move into the 1990s and issue a fifth ‘eras’ box set in their continuing David Bowie reissue programme, but will instead release a five-CD box set called Conversation Piece that focuses on Bowie’s early development throughout 1968 and 1969. This set will feature home demos, BBC radio sessions, a new 2019 mix of the Space Oddity album and more…

The original Chico Hamilton Quintet was one of the last significant West Coast jazz bands of the cool era. Consisting of Buddy Collette on reeds (flute, clarinet, alto, and tenor), guitarist Jim Hall, bassist Carson Smith, and the drummer/leader, the most distinctive element in the group's identity was cellist Fred Katz. The band could play quite softly, blending together elements of bop and classical music into their popular sound and occupying their own niche. This six-CD, limited-edition box set from 1997 starts off with a Hamilton drum solo from a 1954 performance with the Gerry Mulligan Quartet; it contains three full albums and many previously unreleased numbers) by the original Chico Hamilton band and also has quite a few titles from the second Hamilton group (which has Paul Horn and John Pisano in the places of Collette and Hall).
A 2-CD deluxe rendering of the group's first pop #1 LP, inspired by the album's 50th anniversary last year. Outtakes and rare mixes, including a newly created duet with the Four Tops, have been added to the album's original mono and stereo versions, now remastered for the first time in decades, to create a unique package deserving of the Supremes legendary status. Comes with two 24-pages booklets with extensive liner notes and never-before-seen photos.
The Turtles enjoyed eighteen US hit singles between 1965 and 1970, three of which (“Happy Together”, “She’d Rather Be With Me” and “Elenore”) were also huge hits in the UK. From their original incarnation as surf band The Crossfires, all the way to their final single, the Turtles traversed several different musical paths during their career. It is precisely this power through diversity that makes the Turtles’ body of work one of the most rewarding and enjoyable of the 1960’s – they never met a genre they didn’t like. Edsel Records is proud to present the band’s six albums, each as a 2 CD digipak set.
