Italian pianist Vanessa Benelli Mosell began taking piano lessons at age 3, and at 7 she was enrolled in the International Piano Academy in Imola, where she studied with Franco Scala. In 2007, she moved to London to study at the Royal College of Music and worked with Dmitri Alexeev. She graduated in 2012. Benelli Mosell won the Elba Festival Prize and the first award of the Pietrasanta International Dance and Visual Arts Festival. She has toured China, North America, and South America, and performed in the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, England, Israel, Russia, and Turkey. She has been a soloist with the Zurich Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, and the Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna. She became a member of the Moscow Soloists in 2012, replacing Martha Argerich. Benelli Mosell was mentored by Karlheinz Stockhausen, and she gave a marathon performance of his works, as well as recording Klavierstück XII. Her repertoire also includes standard Romantic and modern works, and she has recorded music by Chopin, Liszt, Scriabin, Mussorgsky, Debussy, Stravinsky, Rachmaninov, and Glass. She records for Decca, and is a Steinway Artist.

Pianist Vanessa Benelli Mosell and cellist Henri Demarquette find common ground between Philip Glass and Rachmaninov in this release that revels in both composers passion for sonic storytelling. Presenting a program of personal, dramatic and spiritual music, Mosell and Demarquette perform these selections with intimate ardor.

This new album includes music by Alexander Scriabin as well as by her mentor, Karlheinz Stockhausen, thus putting together two composers both considered visionaries in their respective different historical periods.

She is continuously praised for her virtuosity, her technical brilliance and the sensitivity of her musical insight, which have been shaped significantly in mentorships with Karlheinz Stockhausen and Yuri Bashmet. This Decca debut recording of Italian pianist Vanessa Benelli Mosell pays tribute to solo piano music of the 20th century including works by Stockhausen (Klavierstück) and Stravinsky (Trois Mouvements de Petrouchka). The album is completed by the world premiere recording of Karol Beffa's Suite pour Piano ou Clavecin.

Italia, the new album by Vanessa Benelli Mosell, will be released on September 15th in digital format (and from September 22nd on CD). 300 years of Italian piano in a program that surprises for its unusual chronological vastness: starting from the early eighteenth century of Scarlatti's Sonata K 141 and arriving at 2015 with the piece by Ezio Bosso. There is also a tribute to a Neapolitan song, another segment of the great Italian musical heritage, with “I' te vurria vasà” performed by the famous tenor Francesco Meli.

Vanessa continues Debussy’s world, which represents the past and the future in my artistic path, having already recorded a first Album of Debussy’s music in 2018 celebrating his 100th anniversary of death and issuing a new album of his Second book of Preludes,

C'est une véritable enfant prodige du piano qui voit le jour à Prato (Italie), le 15 novembre 1987. Élève de l'Académie de piano d'Imola dès l'âge de sept ans, Vanessa Benelli Mosell brûle les étapes et se voit promise à une carrière internationale dès l'adolescence. Du Conservatoire Tchaïkovski de Moscou au Collège royal de Londres, la pianiste italienne perfectionne son style loué par le compositeur Karlheinz Stockhausen, dont elle devient une interprète privilégiée, le pianiste Pascal Rogé et le violoniste et chef d'orchestre Yuri Bashmet. Après des premiers prix de concours remportés en Italie, elle publie le recueil Virtuoso Piano Music (2011) et A Lizst Recital l'année suivante. En 2015 paraît son premier disque pour le label Decca, (R)Evolution, mettant à l'honneur des pièces contemporaines. Il est suivi par Light (2016), réunissant des oeuvres de Scriabine et de Stockhausen, puis le Concerto pour piano n°2 de Rachmaninov (2017) et, en 2018, de deux autres nouveautés : un programme consacré à Debussy et Echoes, avec le violoncelliste Henri Demarquette.
