The first hits package from iconic singer/songwriter Mylene Farmer, 2001 release Mots, showcases her musical evolution from French pop chanteuse to feisty rock chick to futuristic dance diva. A celebration of her 17-year career, the two-CD collection includes 27 of her most popular singles and B-sides compiled in chronological order, from her 1989 debut "Maman a Tort" to 2001's "L'Histoire D'Une Fee, C'est…" alongside three new compositions, "C'est Une Belle Journee," "Pardonne-Moi," and the title track collaboration with Seal.

Dion chante Plamondon (meaning Dion sings Plamondon) is an album by Canadian singer Celine Dion, released on 4 November 1991. It is her 15th French-language album and 16th in total. In Europe it was renamed Des mots qui sonnent, meaning Words That Sound (literally) or Words with Meaning (idiomatically). The album was first released in Canada (November 1991) and France (May 1992). In 1994, Dion chante Plamondon was released in the rest of the world becoming Dion's first French album available worldwide. It was released with four different cover pictures.

Jordi Savall has brought us yet another treasure on his own Alia Vox label, this time a mixed bag of music by Reformation Era composers and a handful of slightly earlier works. It’s all taken from a concert program Savall gave last year under the aegis of “greatest hits of the court of Charles V”. The composers presented are mostly court musicians for that Holy Roman Emperor, but Josquin and Heinrich Isaac also are included, the latter as a nod to Charles’ grandfather, Maximilian I, who was responsible for getting Charles the crown. Savall combines his first-rate instrumental ensemble, updated to Hespèrion XXI, with his own vocal group, La Capella Reial de Catalunya. The results are captivating. Savall’s musicians are tops in the field, and their collective talents, constantly on display in this varied program, are simply a joy to hear.

Logos was born in 1996 as an italian progressive rock band, playing mainly Le Orme and Banco. The band recorded in 1999 "LogoS", in the 2001 "Asrava", in 2014 "L'enigma della vita", a Logos' milestone.
Still helmed by the incredible Luca Zerman on lead vocals as well as keys, aided and abetted by fellow ivory man Claudio Antolini, as well as devilish bassman Fabio Gaspari, who doubles on guitar, mandolin and vocals and adding terrific drummer Alessandro Perbellini. The album has a theme focused on a Japanese legend, an artistic style known as Origami and combining that with history, namely Hiroshima, through the eyes of a little girl Sadako, victim of the radiation released by the A-bomb. The cover and artwork are once again highly evocative and drenched in artistic flair and melancholia.

Rien d'étonnant finalement à ce que cette compilation thématique ait vu le jour. Car s'il est un sujet omniprésent chez Polnareff, c'est bien celui des émotions sentimentales. Par conséquent, on retrouve sur ce double CD la plupart des classiques que ce compositeur hors normes a égrenés sans discontinuité entre 1966 et 1971, dominant de la tête et des épaules une scène française qu'il jugea plus tard trop étroite pour lui. L'incontournable "Poupée qui fait non" ouvre le bal, avec, rappelons-le, un certain Jimmy Page à la guitare.

Patrick Fiori, born in 1969 in Marseille, is a pop singer who rose to prominence through his performance in the successful musical Notre Dame de Paris and on "Belle," the hit single it spawned. This song, a collaboration with co-stars Daniel Lavoie and Garou, topped the French charts for many weeks in 1998, paving the way for a more financially viable recording career than Fiori's previous albums (1994's Puisque C'est l'Heure and 1995's Le Coeur a l'Envers) had seemed to suggest.

Guillaume Dufay is one of the key representatives of the French musical genius. His masterful work is a comprehensive and brilliant apotheosis of the middle ages. During his long career, the master from Cambrai gave us not only an impressive series of motets and masses, but also more than 80 profane songs, jems of melodic, rhythmic and poetic creativity. These small masterpieces show extreme refinement and an extraordinary command of counterpoint. Whatever the form, ballad, rondeau, bergerette or motet-song, the expression remains surprisingly natural and exquisitely simple. Most of these songs hail lightness of mind, joy, optimism, modestly restrained amorous pleasure, though some are melancholic or dwell on more austere feelings.
