The Aerosol Grey Machine is the debut studio album by English progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator. It was released in 1969 by record label Mercury. The album was originally intended as a solo album by the band's lead singer and main songwriter, Peter Hammill. When the band signed with Charisma Records, a deal was worked out whereby The Aerosol Grey Machine would be released under the Van der Graaf Generator name, in return for Mercury Records releasing Hammill from his earlier contract with it. The initial edition contained the song "Giant Squid", later pressings removed this track and replaced it with the single b-side "Necromancer". The album was reissued on CD in 1997 by the German company Repertoire Records, using the second-edition running order of the album and featuring the first single as bonus tracks.

Songs about the river are a common trope in the history of music. Psalms of being cleansed, being baptized, being redeemed. There are ballads of murder, lost love, jealousy, and all sorts of rank human emotion reflected in the surface of the water. Respect, praise, and worship of the river are other themes often channeled through music as well. Even in the realm of ambient music, digital mimesis of the aquatic is commonplace. Fossil Aerosol Mining Project, in their ongoing archaeological approach to a post-industrial sound design, offers their own variant on this topic with considerable differences. It is not only the sediment, the debris, the waste, the scum, the mud, and the rot that are the source materials in Scaath Catfish, but also what is preserved in those elements and new forms of life fostered in this conceptual framework.

Beginning as a Peter Hammill solo effort following the dissolution of the first Van Der Graaf Generator, this quickly recorded album brought Hammill together with producer John Anthony and caused the reformation of the band (which immediately thereafter shifted personnel once again). A raw, energetic effort that sometimes did little to show off the young Hammill's talents, the album nevertheless has some fine moments that hint at the possibilities for future releases…

UK collection. The music of Bobby Fuller was an anachronism: a recollection of simpler times set in the fast-paced world of tomorrow. Cast within the tenets of his twin loves, the instrumental surf sound and his idol Buddy Holly, Fuller existed in a moment when all of popular music was rapidly changing. Like Holly, his life was cut short in his early 20s with so much of what he promised artistically unanswered. Although revisionists have unfairly favored Fuller's more primitive demos and independent releases made in El Paso, Texas over the glossier recordings created by producer Bob Keane in Hollywood, they may be missing the beauty of what these two created together: a perfect blend of power and Polish. This collection is the first time all of Bobby Fuller's singles have been made available in their original mono single versions.

Until he joined John's Children, in March, 1967, Marc Bolan had never even owned an electric guitar. And once he quit the band, it is said, he abandoned it as quickly as everything else which that band represented – freakbeat pop, adrenalined psych, electric soup…
