Nell'anno 2046, Berlino è diventata un crocevia di immigrati, un luogo dove Oriente e Occidente sono in continuo scontro. Leo Beiler, un barista muto, ha un motivo solo per vivervi ed è rappresentato dalla sua amata, scomparsa nel nulla. La sua ricerca lo porta nelle profondità del ventre della città, dove una coppia di chirurghi americani sembra essere l'unico indizio ricorrente. Dans un proche avenir, Leo est barman dans un Berlin en pleine ébullition. A cause d’un accident survenu dans son enfance, Leo perd l’usage de la parole et ne vit plus que pour sa séduisante petite-amie Naadirah. Quand elle disparaît sans laisser de trace, Leo se met à sa recherche et se retrouve dans les bas-fonds de la ville. Deux espiègles chirurgiens américains constituent les seuls indices qui le poussent à affronter ce milieu infernal afin de retrouver son amour.
