Gigantic eight record box, this comes the closest to documenting the wide breadth of blues recordings done by Sam Phillips at the Sun studios in Memphis during the early 50s. A landmark achievement.
This multi-disc set has most of the major blues classics of the late 1940's and 1950's that went on to spawn the rock era; from Ike Turner and Rocket 88 to Howlin' Wolf's best sides. Sam Phillips and Sun Records got every major player south of Chicago to record there sooner or later–and even some who had done work in Chicago came back to do work in the landmark Memphis studio (which is a GREAT tourist destination!).

And here is the collection of "Rock-a-Billy Rave", which includes 10 discs. Rockabilly - a musical genre, a kind of rock 'n' roll, which emerged in the 1950s. In fact, he is the ancestor of modern rock. The term comes from the words "rock" and "Hillbilly" (one of the names of country music). Rockabilly has its roots in country and blues.

This glorious 10-CD box set contains 250 original Rockabilly recordings featuring Jonny Cash, Carl Phillips, Johnny Horton, Marty Robbins, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Hank Thompson, Faron Young, Bill Haley & The Saddlemen and many others. All the tracks were recorded between 1947 and 1960 but with the vast majority coming from the 1950's.

Received wisdom would have us believe that before Motown, no black-owned record company had made a significant impact on the US mainstream. However, the actuality is something else entirely. Way back in the early 50s, long before Berry Gordy had written his first song, VEE-JAY RECORDS - a black, family owned and run, Chicago-based label - was establishing itself via a steady stream of Blues, R&B, DooWop and Gospel hits.

Set of Fremeaux’s definitive Integrale Django Reinhardt collection. Mastered by Daniel Nevers, there are 20 volumes of these, and each volume has 2 CDs – 40 CDs total. Each volume also comes with a fairly thick booklet with discography and notes. And the booklets and inserts have very nice B&W pictures of Django. Une réédition d’exception !
