Dragon Ball Z is the title of an anime series that continues the adaptation of the Dragon Ball manga written, drawn and created by Akira Toriyama, making it the sequel to the original anime series. It was first released in Japan and Hong Kong, and later elsewhere in the world, first in European countries such as France, Italy and Spain, and later in the United States.

The series follows the adventures of the adult version of Goku who, along with his companions, defend the Earth and many other planets against various villains. While the original Dragon Ball anime followed Goku through childhood into adulthood, Dragon Ball Z is a continuation of his adulthood life, but at the same time parallels the maturation of his first child, Gohan, and to a lesser extent, his second child Goten. The separation between the series is also significant as the later series takes on a more dramatic and serious tone.

Since the dawn of life, an evolutionary arms race has imbued predator and prey with ever more sophisticated weaponry. Teeth and jaws are merely the low-tech side of the struggle. Bats have evolved sonar, and moths have devised a way to jam it; squid create smoke screens, caterpillars concoct poisons, and the race escalates from eon to eon.

Bon goes with his friends on a holiday to Thailand, but they land themselves in hot water in the middle of a battle between sorcerers. The group befriend one of the sorcerers, whose sister falls in love with Bon. She tries to use a love spell to win his heart but it goes horribly wrong. When the guys go back to Hong Kong, the sorcerer follows them and decided to murder them one by one. Then he notices Bon's beautiful bride-to-be and decides that he must have his way with her. Luckily, a white witch is at hand to help save the day.
